I guess it's time for my annual post. The website is my primary Rubicon information outlet. The snow is melting, but it's still out there. Travel prepared to spend the night with extra clothing, food, drink, shelter, etc.

New hobby taking up a lot of my time. I've had the 1/24 scale C10 for over a year, but I just picked up a new Traxxas TRX-4 Sport High Trail. And I couldn't leave it alone.

Long Time No Post

Okay, it been a while. But there's lots going on that you should know about.

Amy Granat and Roger Salazar held a public meeting at the Cal4 office on Monday night. They had a proposal for a new organization and a new way to manage the entire Rubicon Trail.

Rubicon Trail Collaborative Council is the name of the new group. It will be composed of land owners, Rubicon businesses, clubs, Rubicon NGOs and state wide OHV organizations.

Users would have a seat at THE table where Rubicon Trail decisions are being made.

Although storms are lacking, winter is here. Check the weather before you go out. This guy didn't. He was stuck at the top of Barker Pass. He and his rig were rescued. Placer County Sheriff's Search & Rescue got him out. A Lake Tahoe Hi-Lo got his rig out for him. He was from out of town.

I do more posting on my website but the latest news is that the Rubicon is reopened (10/15/21) within the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit. It's closure was extended by the Basin even after the Eldorado Forest was reopened.

Okay, so it's been awhile.

The current talk is of El Dorado County taking over the management of the ENTIRE Rubicon Trail.

I'm looking for a very open process and that's not what currently happening.

I'll try and keep people posted from now on. Right now the two counties are working on a memorandum of understanding that will allow El Dorado to get grant money to work the entire trail.
