🥫 OUR LITTLE FREE FOOD PANTRY NEEDS A LITTLE LOVE! ❤️

Our Talking Rock Little Free Food Community Pantry is running low, and we’re asking our amazing community to help us RESTOCK THE SHELVES!

This pantry is here for one simple reason: neighbors helping neighbors. Anyone who needs a little extra support can take what they need, and anyone who is able can help by leaving something behind.

🛒 ITEMS WE’D LOVE TO RESTOCK:
• Canned meats – tuna, chicken, Vienna sausages
• Canned soups, chili & pasta meals
• Peanut butter
• Canned vegetables & fruit
• Beans, rice & pasta
• Mac & cheese
• Oatmeal & cereal
• Granola bars & individually packaged snacks
• Crackers
• Shelf-stable milk
• Easy-to-prepare meal items
• Kid-friendly foods & snacks
• Other unopened, non-perishable foods

❤️ Every donation matters.
A few cans from your pantry, an extra item added to your grocery cart, or a bag of groceries purchased specifically for the pantry can make a real difference for a local family.

📍 Donations can be placed directly in the Little Free Food Pantry in Talking Rock.

🌟 TALKING ROCK PARK REFRESH! 🌟

We are so excited and grateful to our Community Partners over the past couple of weeks who have helped breathe fresh life into our gorgeous park ~ check out the new gravel throughout the park and new wooden swings!

🧵❤️ INTRODUCING THE TALKING ROCK COMMUNITY QUILT PROJECT! ❤️🧵

One Town. Many Stories. Stitched Together.

We are SO excited to launch a brand-new community project celebrating the businesses, organizations, people, and places that make Talking Rock so special!

The Talking Rock Community Quilt Project will bring our North Georgia community together ~ one square at a time ~ to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind quilt filled with the stories, creativity, and hometown pride of Talking Rock. 🏡🚂🌲

🏪 LOCAL BUSINESSES, RESIDENTS & ORGANIZATIONS — WE WANT YOU TO BE PART OF IT!

Each participating business, resident or organization will create its own quilt square representing who you are, what you do, or what Talking Rock means to you. When all of the squares are brought together, they’ll become one incredible keepsake representing our community.

🪡 THE BASICS
• Please use a 12” x 12” piece of 100% cotton fabric
• Your finished design area must be 10” x 10”
• Designs must be stitched or embroidered — NO PAINT
• No polyester or polyester-mix fabric

📅 IMPORTANT DATES
❤️ Deadline to express interest: AUGUST 20
🧵 Deadline to submit your completed square: SEPTEMBER 15

✨ Thanks to Pickens County Mercantile and Quilt Shoppe, our completed Community Quilt will be displayed around town and at Heritage Days! We’ll also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to WIN this one-of-a-kind Talking Rock keepsake, with proceeds benefiting our community.

Imagine looking at this quilt years from now and seeing a little piece of the people, businesses and organizations that helped tell the story of Talking Rock in 2026. ❤️

Tonight, the 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸 was honored to present $𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 donations to each of our 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 Talking Rock Bronco Stampede beneficiaries:

‼️𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀‼️

During the July monthly test three of the county outdoor warning sirens were found to be not working. Following internal policy our maintenance contractor was immediately notified and responded. Following the service call the following sirens were either repaired or remain out of service until further repairs are completed:

Salacoa Vista – The siren was repaired and the maintenance contractor reports that it is back in service.
Talking Rock – A problem with the internal radio was discovered requiring addition work. This siren remains out of service.
Waleska Hwy – A problem with the internal radio was discovered requiring additional work. This siren remains out of service.

All of the sirens we have are very vulnerable to lightning (big metal thing on top of a 45’ pole). They are also reaching the end of their normal life span and things will, from time-to-time break. These factors make monthly testing and the rapid response by our contractor so important. We do have one exception and that is the siren on Hobson Road which was completely replaced in 2025 due to storm damage.
