The Florida Supreme Court unanimously elected John D. Couriel as Florida’s next chief justice. He will begin his two-year term July 1.
Justice Couriel was appointed to the court in 2020 by Governor Ron DeSantis. He will succeed Chief Justice Carlos G. Muñiz, who will remain on the court after completing his second term as chief justice on June 30.
“I am grateful to my colleagues for their trust,” Justice Couriel said, “and am indebted to the previous chief justices with whom I’ve served. I will do my best to serve the people of Florida as they so ably have.”

Today was a big day for those who took their Bar exams in February. Results were released and it was good news for 537 of those who were taking the full test for the first time. They passed and, after meeting all eligibility requirements, will be admitted to The Florida Bar. See how the passage rate broke down by school for all first-time, full test takers. It’s on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners website, as well as the Florida Supreme Court. https://ow.ly/zQso50YIaQC Congratulations to all who passed.
