We thank Leon County Commissioner Carolyn Cummings for her support of the Bradfordville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department and all six of Leon County’s volunteer fire departments. As an “At-Large” Commissioner, she represents all of the departments. We know that we can count on Commissioner Cummings to show up.

The Bradfordville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department does not endorse any political candidate, but recognizes those in our community who support us and our mission.

Thank you, Carolyn Cummings.

🚑 Meet Your Medic! 👋

Join us in celebrating Tanner Ferguson, a Paramedic II, Field Training Officer (FTO), PEER Support Team member, and newly certified Critical Care Paramedic (CCM)! For the past 4.5 years, Tanner has proudly served the Leon County community with dedication, professionalism, and compassion.

Inspired by watching his peers provide advanced patient care, Tanner pursued his goal of becoming a paramedic. Today, his commitment to excellence is reflected in both his role as a Paramedic II and his achievement of the Critical Care Paramedic certification, an advanced credential earned through high-level training and specialized education to care for critically ill and injured patients.

When asked what he enjoys most about EMS, Tanner says it's the people. He values working alongside coworkers who motivate him every day. His advice for those entering the profession: "Never stop learning, regardless of where you are in your career."

Thank you, Tanner, for your unwavering commitment to Leon County EMS and for making a difference in our community every day!

Congratulations to this wonderful hero at the CDA.

Congratulations to this wonderful hero at the CDA.

Good afternoon, Tallahassee Leon County!

Sharing from the family album again...

Please join us in congratulating Communications Training Officer (CTO) Shawanna Fuller, our Employee of the Month!

Nominated by her peers and selected through a blind review process by representatives from our partner agencies, CTO Fuller's recognition reflects the impact of her leadership and dedication.

After identifying an opportunity to better support new dispatchers, she took the initiative to create a New Dispatcher Survival Guide, a practical, encouraging resource designed to help new team members successfully navigate their first days on the operations floor.

Her commitment to mentorship, innovation, and the success of others embodies the very best of the CDA.

Congratulations, CTO Fuller, and thank you for making a lasting difference in our Emergency Communications Family! 💙💛

Tonight, members and new recruits from Bradfordville, Chaires-Capitola, and Lake Talquin Volunteer Fire Departments began a newly minted Fire Ground Support Personnel course. The inaugural class is the first of its kind and is being sponsored by Chaires-Capitola VFD.

The responders will learn the skills necessary to support interior firefighters on incidents. The class can also act as a bridge to Florida Firefighter I qualification!

Instructors are members of Bradfordville, Chaires-Capitola, Miccosukee, and WVFD - Woodville Volunteer Fire Departments.

Today, during our training, Chief James Po***ck promoted Lieutenant Michael Grosh to Captain.

Captain Grosh has been on the department since 2023. He has been integral in training new members and in the formation of the Leon County Tender Strike Team - a group of specialized volunteers who bring water when and where it is needed most.

In his spare time Capt. Grosh volunteers as a mentor with Scouting America Troop 44.

Join us in congratulating Michael on his promotion!

In 2025, BVFRD received a “One For All” Grant presented by Proper Whiskey. The funds are being used to construct a black out maze. The maze is used to condition firefighters to work in the confusing dark, smoky, unfamiliar environment of interior, structural firefighting.

In 2026, your firefighters are fortunate to be awarded a second grant. The funds are being used to purchase Thermal Imaging Cameras (TICs). TICs allow firefighters to do such things as search for victims in low/no light and smoky conditions, find hot spots in walls, and look for fire extension.

Be a part of the award presentation, meet members of the Bradfordville Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, and see, touch, and learn about the TICs, tonight (Tuesday, July 7), at Bannerman Crossings’ Barrel Proof Lounge (3441 Bannerman Rd).

We’ll see you at 6:30.

PS: Become a member (responder or administrative). Think you don’t have much time, support BVFRD with a generous donation. For more information, go to bradfordvillefire.org.
