Units from Tallassee Police, Tallassee Fire, and multiple other agencies are on the scene of a vehicle accident on AL Hwy 229 at Taylor Rd. Traffic is being diverted at this time until all hazards have been cleared.

URGENT NOTICE!!

The Tallassee Police Department and North Pole PD are requesting citizens be on the lookout for a vehicle coming from a northerly direction and believed to be heading toward Tallassee. Suspect is described as a W/M 5 foot 6 inches tall, 250 pounds, rosy, red cheeks, a nose like a cherry and having a large belly that has been described as shaking like a bowl full of jelly when he laughs. He is described as having twinkling blue eyes, wiry glasses and a white flowing beard. He is wearing a red hat with a white ball, red and white suit, black belt, and black shiny boots. Subject goes by the last name of Claus, first name Santa and is also known as Kris Kringle or Saint Nick. Suspect has been seen making entry into numerous residences, possibly thru the chimney. Subject does not appear to be violent. Suspect vehicle is described as a large open sleigh with a personalized license plate of NOEL1. The suspect has been seen going from rooftop to rooftop and carrying a large sack that appeared to be stuffed with unknown contents, possibly presents. Suspect has been heard leaving each location shouting “Ho, Ho Ho…Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight.” If located, Tallassee Police Department and the North Pole PD request he be sent on his way for he has good will and peace to spread throughout the land.

On 12/7/2022, the Tallassee Police Department executed a search warrant in the 100 Block of Thelma Drive where two white male subjects were arrested. W/M Derrick Robinson was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance. W/M William Ballentine was arrested and charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Unlawful Possession of a Short-Barrel Shotgun. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On 11/23/22, W/M Brandon Taylor was taken into custody by Deputies from the Elmore County Sheriff's Office for two outstanding warrants issued by the Tallassee Police Department. Taylor is charged with one count of Theft of Property 1st Degree and one count of Burglary 3rd Degree. The Tallassee Police Department appreciates Sheriff Franklin and the Elmore County Sheriff's Office for their assistance apprehending this fugitive and looks forward to future collaboration between our agencies to best serve our community. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Tallassee Police Department has been made aware of road construction being performed by the city utility crews on N Ann Ave. The road will be limited to local traffic only beginning today and lasting all week. Local traffic will divert through the Rose Hill Cemetery, Motorists can expect delays in travel time and are urged to use caution when traveling through this area. Thank you for your patience.

The Tallassee Police Department would like to wish everyone a Happy Halloween. If you plan to partake in Halloween festivities tonight please remember to be safe and courteous. The city will observe trick or treat hours between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Extra patrol units will be out riding the neighborhoods but we cannot be everywhere all the time. We recommend you use flashlights or glow sticks to remain visible to traffic, drivers SLOW DOWN and be vigilant of children and pedestrians, stay on sidewalks when possible, only accept factory wrapped and sealed "treats" and REMEMBER to secure your residence and vehicles before leaving them. We want everyone to enjoy this evening as much as possible.

On Tuesday, 10/25/22, members of the Tallassee Police Department apprehended W/M suspect Ronnie Dean Butler, after receiving information of his whereabouts and involvement in attempting to elude from ALEA officers on Highway 229 on 10/22/22. Butler had outstanding felony warrants with Tallapoosa Co and an FTA municipal warrant with the City of Tallassee. Butler was transported to the Elmore Co. Jail pending his municipal court date with a hold for Tallapoosa Co. Subsequently, during further investigation, Butler confessed to his involvement in a Burglary and Theft from Decemeber, 2021. Warrants were obtained for these charges as well. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Monday 10/24/22, members of the Tallassee Police Department Narcotics Unit were notified of the location of four suspects in the 300 block of John Street, who were all involved in the breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and were witnessed attempting to cut a catalytic converter off of a vehicle on the side of Highway 229. These four suspects were later apprehended and charged. Three of these suspects had outstanding warrants with other agencies. Brandon Childers, Brandon Thomas, Mary Alison Ward, and Alexandra Harris were all charged with one count each of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle. Based on information obtained during these arrests, The Tallassee Police Department is further investigating potential leads into future arrests. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Tallassee Police Department has been informed that the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin working on sidewalks on Jordan Ave between Friendship Rd and Elm St beginning on October 31st, 2022 and lasting until December 31st, 2022. Motorists can expect delays in travel time and should use caution when traveling through this area.

Tallassee High School is on hard lockdown at this time and police are on the premises. Everyone is safe and okay. Please do not go to the school to check your child out they will not be released at this time. We will update as more information is available.

On Monday, October 3rd 2022, members of the Tallassee Police Department arrested W/F Tabitha Hale for one count of Trafficking in Methamphetamines, during a traffic stop on Gilmer Ave. when Hale was found to be in possession of 1.5 oz. of crystal m**h. Hale was also charged with one count of Distribution of a Controlled Substance in Tallapoosa County. Hale is currently being held in the Elmore County Jail on $1.5 Million bond. The Tallassee Police Department was aided by members of the Eclectic Police Department in the ex*****on of a search warrant of Hale's residence, located in the 600 block of Macedonia Road, where other narcotics and fi****ms were located and seized. Based on information obtained during Hale's arrest, the Tallassee Police Department expects future narcotic related arrests to be made at a later date. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
