"Unearth a Story" summer program has come to an end. We had 79 registered kids with 60 reading books. The kids read 5,724 books during June and July. 22 kids read 100+ books with our top reader at 526. A big thank you goes out to my teen volunteers, Charity, Faith, Mason, and Olivia! They put up all the books and helped out tremendously. A big thank you to the City of Tallassee Fire Department for doing our annual wet party! Thank you Blount Foundation and the Library Fairy for making our program free for all those that attend! We couldn't have done it without their donations. The kids loved it. Our top winners are as following:

Age 2-5 read 3,705 books. 1st place: Katie Futral, 465 bks, 2nd place: Wyatt MacDonald, 349 bks, 3rd place: Esther Dixon, 320 bks.

August happenings! The library will be closed the first full week in August for inventory! Mark your calendar, August 3-8. The staff will be inside, but the doors will be locked.

Coming soon! Register to reserve your spot. This is a free class but you must register as space is limited. Call the library, 334-283-2732, and get on the list.

Guess the baby's arrival date and size! Mrs. Laura's baby is due in August. Guess her little ones birth date and how much she will weigh, the person with the closes answer will receive a gift from the library. Any guesses posted or turned in after her arrival will not count!

Last craft day of the summer program. All the kids had fun putting their dinosaurs together and coloring. If there are any teachers decorating their class room in dinosaurs, give me a call at 334-283-2732 and I can pass on some of our decorations and left over color sheets.

Picture overload, we are have a fun, but busy summer! Don't forget the animals will be at the library tomorrow. Enjoy these pictures in the mean time. I will confess, I am ususally too busy to take as many pictures as I ususally do. But the kids are having so much fun. I've also included a few pictures of Art Camp, provided by Carole Carson.
