From November 1–11, we invite our community to join the Fairlawn VFW Post 349 each morning at 11:00 a.m. in front of Fairlawn City Hall for a meaningful tribute honoring our nation's veterans. Each day, we will place 22 dog tags on the Witness Tree, symbolizing the estimated average of 22 veterans who die by su***de each day in the United States.

The Witness Tree, an initiative of Warriors Journey Home, serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing crisis of veteran su***de, especially as we approach Veterans Day. Each dog tag represents a life, a sacrifice, and a reminder that our veterans deserve our continued support long after their service ends.

Everyone is welcome to join us on any of these mornings to participate in this symbolic memorial. Whether you are a veteran, a family member, or a member of our community who wants to show support, your presence matters. 🇺🇸

Earlier today, SECC was honored to receive a proclamation from the Summit County Executive’s Office and Summit County Council in recognition of being named Dispatch Center of the Year!

This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our amazing team. Our dispatchers show up every day, ready to handle whatever comes their way, often behind the scenes and without recognition.

Greta Johnson from the Summit County Executive's Office said it best - Having all this technology in our center is incredible, but when things get chaotic, it’s the dispatchers who really keep everything running!

We are so proud of our team and grateful to have their hard work recognized. Thank you to everyone who helped celebrate this achievement with us! 💛

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to welcome NCPI to our center for Crisis Intervention (CIT) training!

This training brought together dispatchers from five Summit County communications centers, including SECC, Akron, Richfield, South Summit, and Southwest Summit, highlighting the importance of learning and growing together as a public safety community.

As dispatchers, we are often the first point of contact for someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Understanding how to recognize these situations, communicate effectively, and approach each call with patience and compassion is an important part of what we do.

CIT training gives our team valuable tools to better assist those in crisis while also helping keep our responders and community safe. Every call is different, and having the knowledge and skills to handle these challenging situations can make a real difference.

A big thank you to NCPI for spending the day with us and providing this valuable training. We appreciate the opportunity to continue learning and improving the service we provide to our communities!

Congratulations Chief Beck!
