Last week we conducted an aerial hog control operation on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Over the course of those three days we eliminated 445 hogs.

The Sandtown Bottom Unit has been reopened.

The hog control operation is a go. The Sandtown Bottom Unit has been closed. We will make another post when the Sandtown Bottom Unit reopens.

We are planning to conduct an aerial hog control operation Wednesday, February 4th, therefore the Sandtown Bottom Unit will be closed by approximately 8:30am. This plan is weather dependent. The flight crew will assess the weather tomorrow morning before making a final decision on the operation. We will update with another post as we learn more tomorrow morning, but for now, plan on the Sandtown Bottom Unit being closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

As the inclement weather approaches we want to prioritize the safety of our visitors, volunteers, and staff; therefore, we are canceling the Eagle Tour scheduled for tomorrow, January 24th.

However, we still have tours scheduled for the following dates and we would love for you to join us on one of them. The dates are: January 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 7.

⚠️Safety Alert ⚠️

During controlled deer hunts there will be a partial closure in the Sandtown Bottom Unit. Everything along the tour road beyond Tuff Boat Ramp will be closed on the following dates: October 29, 30, 31; November 19, 20, 21; and December 3, 4, 5.

The Tour Loop in the Sandtown Bottom Unit beyond Tuff Boat Ramp will be closed today until Sunday at sunset while our controlled youth deer hunt takes place.

Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge wants to remind everyone that we are hosting one more Eagle Tour on Tuesday, March 18th. The tour will start at 9am.
