: All forms of Outdoor burning are strongly discouraged today through the weekend.

Friday will bring a statewide threat for High Significant Wildfire potential meaning that fires exceeding 5,000 acres are increasingly likely given fire weather and wildland fuels forecasts. Rates of spread in rangeland fuels will readily exceed 3 mph on established fires. Furthermore, conditions on Friday continue to trend toward Wildfire Outbreak and a Firestorm cannot be ruled out. Fire weather relaxes only slightly through the weekend following a dry cold front passage with elevated to near-critical fire weather in place. Dry-Return Flow on Monday will further enhance composite fuel dryness leading into another round of Wildfire Outbreak potential and the likelihood of critical fire weather both Monday and Tuesday ahead another frontal boundary midweek. Oklahoma and the Southern Great Plains will have to endure a very concerning period of very-high to extreme fire danger with no signs of relief in the near-term forecast. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Air Evac 122 and their families.

Air Evac Lifeteam is heartbroken to report that three crew members have perished in an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 20. At 11:23 pm local time AEL's Operations Control Center (OCC) lost contact with the aircraft, a Bell 206L3 with call sign N295AE. The crew is based out of Weatherford, OK, and was returning to base after completing a patient care transport in Oklahoma City when the OCC lost contact with them. Nearby AEL teams assisted local law enforcement with the search.

Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members. CISM teams have been sent to assist our team members during this time. Please reach out if you would like to speak with them.

At this time, we are not sharing the names of the crew members aboard the flight. We ask that you respect the privacy of our team members and their families, and please do not share their names.

AEL has turned over the scene and investigation to the NTSB.
