We had a great day at 1st and 2nd grade farm safety day. Thanks for all the help today from Mark Syzemore, NRCS Shared Technician, Kim and Michael Clark, Gene and Sandy Rauh, Spencer Hedges, Lisa and Monty Cravens. We learned about soil health and how valuable worms are in the soil.

Farm safety day will be on Tuesday, April 21st at the fair grounds. The district will be holding a session where the kids are painting with worms. We need about 4 volunteers for that day if you are free to help us. Please message me or text 580-922-1248.

April 1,2026 was a good day at the conservation district today. We welcomed our new NRCS shared technician Mark Syzemore. We also had the whole crew for board meeting today.

There are a few new things that could help the process of making an ED4 application.
1. As a land owner we need a way to prove ownership- 156ez from FSA or bring deed when making application.
2. If you are leasing-we need a copy of your lease and lease must go thru December 31,2026 to cover the program. Leasee’s will also need to have the landowner sign a consent form.
3. Once you apply you should not change practices. If something comes up call the office before hand.
4. The district will be going out to verify there is no water to be eligible before it is presented to the conservation dustrict board and a field visit at the end. Photos before and after are still required.

I am so proud of these gentlemen. Colton Buckley, Associate Chief, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and Jimmy Emmons, Assistant Chief, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service. As we go through life you never know the impact we make on each other. It was great to work with Colton on High Plains Resource Conservation and Development and Jimmy on Dewey County Conservation District.
