🚨 Public Notice - Solicitors in the Town of Talty

The Talty Police Department has recently experienced an increase in calls for service regarding solicitors going door-to-door within the town.

If you encounter a solicitor and would like an officer to respond, please contact the Kaufman County Non-Emergency Dispatch Line (469) 376-4500 so that a call for service can be properly generated and dispatched to a Talty officer. This helps ensure calls are documented and handled appropriately.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to address these concerns and maintain the safety and quality of life in our community.

For individuals or businesses wishing to solicit within the Town of Talty, a valid soliciting permit is required. Permits can be obtained at City Hall Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., after completing the required application process and paying the applicable permit fee.

Thank you for helping us keep our community informed and safe.

⚠️ Community Safety Reminder ⚠️

The Talty Police Department would like to remind parents and residents that riding unregistered four-wheelers, dirt bikes, and similar off-road vehicles on public roadways is prohibited under Texas Transportation Code.

As the weather gets warmer, we often see an increase in these vehicles being operated on city streets. Our goal is not to cause problems for families, it is to help prevent serious accidents and keep everyone in our community safe.

Many of these vehicles are not designed for roadway use and can create dangerous situations for both drivers and riders, especially young riders. We are asking parents to please speak with your children about where these vehicles can legally and safely be operated.

By keeping off-road vehicles off public streets, we can work together to reduce the risk of injuries and protect everyone in our community.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued support as we work to keep Talty safe for all residents.

Today, Officer T. Smith had the opportunity to meet Andrew Estes, a retired Police Chief and proud citizen of Talty, Texas. After moving from Washington State, Andrew says he loves calling Talty home and appreciates the strong sense of community that makes small towns like Talty so special. πŸš”πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

During their visit, Andrew who collects law enforcement patches from departments across the country, was presented with a Talty Police Department patch. The two spent time sharing stories from law enforcement and discussing the importance of community policing.

Andrew also spoke highly of Officer Parker and how much he and his wife appreciated her taking the time to patrol the neighborhood, stop, and talk with residents.

P.S. Andrew,

we saw the hilarious lawnmower racing offer. πŸ˜‚ While Officer Smith wasn’t able to take you up on the lawnmower racing, Chief D. Gilbert happily issued Officer Smith a patch to trade instead.

Today while on patrol, Officer T. Smith was waved down by a group of kids playing a pickup football game in the neighborhood. The kids asked if he could jump in and toss the pigskin around with them for a bit and of course, he was happy to join in. πŸˆπŸš”

Officer Smith spent time running routes, catching passes from each of the kids, sharing laughs, and making memories they’ll hopefully never forget. Before heading back to patrol, the kids received police stickers and got to take pictures with the patrol unit.

Community policing is about more than answering calls for service, it’s about building relationships, earning trust, and always taking time for the youth. One positive interaction at a time. πŸ’™
