🚧 CELEBRATING MESKWAKI PUBLIC WORKS 🚧
The vital foundation of community health!
On National Tradesperson Day (Sept. 19), we shine a spotlight on the Meskwaki Public Works Department—the team that keeps our community moving and safe.
With a staff of 15, Public Works is responsible for:
• 🛣️ Roads & Maintenance – roads, bridges, snow/ice/dust control, signage, erosion and soil control, and pedestrian safety.
• 🗑️ Solid Waste – regular trash collection, roadside cleanup, and community-wide cleanups, with furniture/appliance pick-up and recycling efforts.
• 💧 Water Systems – planning, design, construction, and monitoring of water facilities, ensuring clean, safe water for all.
• 🌊 Wastewater Systems – operating and maintaining wastewater treatment to protect health and the environment.
• 📍 Underground Locates – preventing damage during construction by marking utilities as part of Iowa One Call.
💬 Director Chad Keahna explains:
“These men and women don’t just see it as a job; they see it as a responsibility. Whether grading roads or monitoring water, they know their families and neighbors are relying on them. Every role is essential, and together they make us stronger.”
🙏 Thank you to the Meskwaki Public Works team—your dedication ensures safe travel, clean water, and a strong foundation for our community every day.
