🔨 CELEBRATING MESKWAKI TRADESPEOPLE: BUILDING SKILLS, HOMES & COMMUNITY - Meskwaki Housing Department 🔧

On September 19th – National Tradesperson Day, we honor the hardworking teams of the Meskwaki Housing Department, Public Works, Facilities Management, MBCH, and the Meskwaki Nation Apprenticeship Program.

These tradespeople do far more than carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, water treatment, and roadway maintenance. They build opportunity, stability, and support—ensuring homes, workplaces, and community spaces are safe, reliable, and welcoming.

🏡 MESKWAKI HOUSING DEPARTMENT
With 31 employees, Housing maintains 357 homes, senior duplexes, and apartments on the Settlement, plus 10 Eagle Ridge townhomes in Marshalltown. From quick service calls to full-scale home rehabilitations, their work ensures residents have comfortable, secure places to live.

đź’¬ Housing Director Arlan Whitebreast shared:

“Our tradespeople are more than builders and technicians, they are teachers, role models, and community leaders. Each project represents more than concrete, lumber, or wiring—it represents security for our families, pride for our community, and sustainability for future generations.”

🙏 On behalf of the Meskwaki Housing Program, he extended gratitude to all carpenters, maintenance staff, apprentices, and skilled professionals whose dedication keeps our homes safe, our community strong, and our traditions alive.

This National Tradesperson Day, we honor not only the tools of the trade, but the heart, knowledge, and problem-solving behind them.

Thank you, Meskwaki tradespeople, for building a stronger community—one project, one road, and one home at a time. ❤️🏡🛠️
