Happy Father’s Day from Tamarac Fire Rescue

Today, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who help shape our families and strengthen our community.

For all the lessons taught, the sacrifices made, the encouragement given, and the memories created, thank you! Some of the things fathers do are noticed every day, while others happen quietly behind the scenes. Yet the impact of your love, guidance, and dedication lasts a lifetime.

Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines, lending a helping hand, offering words of wisdom, or simply being there when it matters most, your influence helps build stronger families and a stronger Tamarac.

From all of us at Tamarac Fire Rescue, we wish you a day filled with pride, laughter, family, and lasting memories.

Happy Father’s Day!

Tamarac Fire Rescue was honored to spend the day at Jackson Memorial Hospital with the Bright Angels Foundation, learning from healthcare professionals and exploring ways to further strengthen the care we provide to our residents.

A special highlight of the day was celebrating pediatric burn survivors and their families, whose strength and resilience continue to inspire us.

Opportunities like these reflect Tamarac Fire Rescue’s ongoing commitment to professional development, excellence in service, and providing the highest level of care to our community.

☀️🚗 FLORIDA SUMMER HEAT CAN TURN A CAR DEADLY IN MINUTES 🚗☀️

Florida summers bring intense heat and humidity, creating dangerous conditions inside parked vehicles faster than many people realize.

Even on a typical summer day, the temperature inside a vehicle can climb above 120°F within minutes. Cracking the windows or parking in the shade provides little protection from the rapidly rising temperatures.

Children are especially vulnerable because their bodies heat up 3 to 5 times faster than adults. Heatstroke can begin when a child's body temperature reaches 104°F, and can become fatal at 107°F.

💔 Every year, approximately 40 children in the United States lose their lives due to vehicular heatstroke.
💔 More than half of these tragedies occur when a caregiver unintentionally forgets a child is in the vehicle.
💔 Children ages 3 and younger account for the majority of these heartbreaking incidents.

🚨 Protect Your Children This Summer:

✅ Never leave a child unattended in a vehicle — not even for a minute.
✅ Place your phone, purse, work bag, or another essential item in the back seat as a reminder.
✅ Make it a habit to check the back seat every time you park.
✅ Keep vehicles locked to prevent children from entering unattended.
✅ Ask childcare providers to contact you immediately if your child does not arrive as expected.

If you see a child alone in a vehicle, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Florida's summer heat is unforgiving. A quick stop can become a tragedy in moments.

👀 LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK. EVERY TRIP. EVERY TIME.

Together, we can keep our children safe this summer.

TAMARAC FIRE RESCUE TAKES FIRST PLACE AT FIRST THERE FIRST CARE!

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Joseph Anello, Firefighter Arielle Schoett, Firefighter Yanier Garcia, and Firefighter Juan Alfonso on their outstanding achievement of earning First Place at the First There First Care (FTFC) ALS 2-Day Competition.

What makes this accomplishment even more remarkable is that this was only the team’s second competition together as a newly formed Advanced Life Support (ALS) team. Competing against highly skilled EMS professionals, they demonstrated exceptional clinical knowledge, teamwork, critical thinking, and the ability to perform under pressure when it mattered most.

Their success reflects countless hours of training, preparation, and dedication to their craft. More importantly, it highlights the commitment Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel bring to serving our community every day. The same professionalism, excellence, and patient-centered care displayed during this competition are the standards our residents can expect from our firefighters and paramedics on every emergency call.

This victory is a testament to the talent, determination, and teamwork that define Tamarac Fire Rescue.

Congratulations on a well-earned First Place finish. Your department, your City, and your community are incredibly proud of your achievement.

At today’s City Commission Meeting, the department was honored to be recognized for several significant achievements reflecting our continued commitment to public safety, community engagement, and service excellence.

We are proud to announce that the department has once again earned the Department of Health Broward, Gold Water Smart Community designation. By successfully meeting the criteria for the prestigious gold designation, Tamarac continues their work with drowning prevention and water safety education.

This accomplishment is a direct reflection of the dedication and hard work of our Community Risk Reduction Division, who have invested countless hours into developing and expanding life-saving initiatives within our community. Initiatives such as water watcher, the distribution of free door/window alarms, and pool alarm safety equipment, have helped enhance awareness and provide families with additional tools to keep loved ones safe.

Shortly thereafter, the American Red Cross Broward Chapter recognized three of our Firefighter Paramedics, Gregory Assaf, Edward Rodriguez, and Christian Coleman, with their Lifesaving Award. Their professionalism, rapid response, and commitment to serving others exemplify the highest standards of the fire service. Each member received a certificate of recognition along with commemorative Red Cross pin. We congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition and thank them for their dedication to protecting our community.

Lastly, the Commission proudly recognized our American veterans, including Battalion Chief Michael Wilton and Lieutenant James Murad, for their military service and continued commitment to our community. We extend our deepest gratitude to them, and to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve our nation with honor, courage, and sacrifice.

Congratulations to everyone recognized today for these landmark achievements and for representing the City of Tamarac with pride and excellence!
