💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I stand with survivors and families affected by abuse. Everyone deserves to feel safe, valued, and respected in their relationships.

I remain committed to advocating for safe communities and access to support services. Let us listen without judgment, respect survivors’ choices, and remind them they are never alone. Abuse is never your fault, and your voice matters.

I was honored to participate in “The Ballot, the Bible & the Believer” Conference and Symposium at Community Church of God in Fort Lauderdale.

I believe our faith calls us to pursue justice, show mercy, and serve our neighbors with love. Thank you to the organizers, fellow panelists, and everyone who joined this meaningful conversation about faith and civic responsibility. Let’s continue putting our faith into action by staying informed, using our voices, and working together to strengthen our community in the struggle for justice.🙏🏾

I was honored to participate in Counseling and Treatment for People of Color at the Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort in Carolina, Puerto Rico.

This gathering taught me a lot about current best practices. It reinforced my commitment to expanding access to culturally responsive mental health and substance use treatment. As a woman in long-term recovery, I know the power of compassionate care. Everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, recover, and thrive! It was just what I needed to better prepare me to serve the people of Florida on the Florida Drug Policy Advisory Board💚

I also enjoyed the beautiful ocean views and peaceful moments at the Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. Taking time to rest, reflect, and appreciate God’s creation reminded me that caring for ourselves helps renew our strength to serve others.

I am deeply grateful to the Florida Association of Healthy Start Coalitions for honoring me with the Champion for Maternal & Child Health Award. Securing funding in Tallahassee takes hard work, partnership, and persistence.

After four years of advocacy, with the help of a bipartisan group of my legislative colleagues and local maternal health leaders, we secured $708,000 during the 2025–2026 legislative session for Doula Pilot Programs in Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties. I refuse to quit on our mothers, babies, and families! Thank you for this recognition and for standing with me in the work to ensure healthier beginnings.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today, I honor the rich cultures, enduring strength, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, including the Native communities who call Florida home. Their histories deserve to be told, their voices deserve to be heard, and their rights deserve to be respected.

As we celebrate, let us commit to listening, learning, and building a future rooted in dignity, justice, and opportunity for all.
