Hillsborough County’s cold weather shelters program will be activated tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 6, for the homeless and those who live in homes without adequate heat who are unable to find other accommodations. The National Weather Service expects local temperatures to dip to or below 40 degrees with wind chill in Hillsborough County on Wednesday night.
Shelter organizers are expecting high demand with limited capacity, so residents who need a warm place to stay are encouraged to use all resources like friends and family as a first option.
Hillsborough County is partnering with the following organizations to provide limited-capacity cold weather shelters for adults. All shelters will take in guests from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. unless they reach capacity prior to that time.

New Witness Address Requirements Begin January 1

Starting January 1, 2024, certain documents recorded in Hillsborough County Official Records must include the post office address of each witness in addition to the witness’s name. The Clerk’s office will not be able to accept documents submitted for recording without the required witness address information because of changes to section 695.26 of the Florida Statutes. Documents inadvertently or electronically recorded that do not meet the statutory requirements of section 695.26 will be removed from the Official Records.

What is new that I need to include?
The post office address of each witness must be legibly printed, typewritten, or stamped on these documents. The post office address of each witness must be a physical address or post office box, an email address will not suffice. Section 695.26 requires the Clerk to reject documents that do not include the witness address information.

What documents are affected?
The new requirement applies to any “instrument by which the title to real property or any interest therein is conveyed, assigned, encumbered, or otherwise disposed of…”

Section 695.26 will apply to, including but not limited to, the following document types:
· Affidavits “by which the title to real property or any interest therein is conveyed, assigned, encumbered, or otherwise disposed of…”
· Agreements, Affidavits, Notices or Memorandums for Deed
· Deeds
· Easements
· Agreements, Affidavits, Notices or Memorandums of Interest in Land

You know you have made a difference when your coworkers nominate you for an award. Our Jury Services Team want to acknowledge Phi Tran in our IT department for creating a system to make their jobs easier.

"The Jury Service Team uses a Call Off procedure in the jury system that was quite cumbersome. We call off jurors a couple times a week and the process could take 10 to 20 minutes every time. We explained our situation to Phi Tran in our IT department. He created a solution and after some testing we implemented it. Now we can process call offs in 20 seconds!"
Great Job, Phi!

Sandra Shattles works for the Clerk in the Plant City Courthouse and recently received high praise from a customer who was blown away by her genuine care and exceptional service. Despite not being able to fulfill the customer's request, Sandra went above and beyond by lending a sympathetic ear and truly listening. It's moments like these that remind us why we do what we do, even when we can't always provide a solution.
Great job, Sandra!
