Planning Commission - Hillsborough County The local planning agency of the cities of Tampa, Plant City, Temple Terrace and Hillsborough County.

We serve the citizens of Hillsborough County, City of Plant City, City of Temple Terrace, and the City of Tampa by providing a vision for improving the quality of life. We are an independent, consolidated planning agency, led by 10 citizen appointees from all 4 local jurisdictions. We promote and coordinate comprehensive long-range planning, growth-management, transportation, and environmental protection, as we make our recommendations to the local jurisdictions.

We're honored to share that the Tampa City Council Redistricting 2026 project has received an Award of Merit in the Best Practices category from the American Planning Association Florida Chapter (APA Florida).

This recognition reflects the collaborative effort of Planning Commission staff, agency partners, elected officials, and the many residents who participated throughout the five-month redistricting process.

Together, we developed a transparent, data-driven process that balanced legal requirements with meaningful public engagement, resulting in the adoption of new City Council district boundaries for the March 2027 municipal elections.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important effort and helped strengthen representative government in the City of Tampa.
