The Jimmie B Keel Regional Library held its dedication ceremony 25 years ago today!

Library service in the Northdale and Carrollwood areas originally began at the Northwest Branch Library in the 1980s before being renamed to the Northwest Regional Library in the 1990s.

The building now known as the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library was a gift from the Winn-Dixie Foundation and opened at a new location as a 25,000 sq. ft. library in 2001. A 10,000 sq. ft. expansion opened in 2014.

The branch was named after Assistant County Administrator Jimmie B. Keel in recognition of his 35 years of passionate, caring service to Hillsborough County.

The Feisty Flamingos have lost every softball game this season! They can't seem to agree on anything—who should be up at bat, who should be pitching, or even what stretches to do. Low on granola and self-esteem, can they win the final game of the season? This fast-paced comedy about conflict, communication, and confidence proves that teamwork takes the whole team to work.

Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Our recent drawing workshop with New York Times best-selling graphic novelist Johnnie Christmas at the Jimmie B Keel Regional Library was a huge hit! Kids and adults had the opportunity to draw alongside the author as he explained the process of creating a character and making them come to life. After the lesson, Johnnie Christmas stuck around to sign autographs and talk to the families.
