In Florida, water is everywhere, which makes water safety a skill every family should prioritize. ☀️

From backyard pools to lakes, rivers, and our beautiful beaches, swim lessons help children build confidence, learn essential safety skills, and enjoy the water responsibly all summer long.

The Tampa YMCA offers swim lessons for children ages 6 months to 17 years old, helping young swimmers develop foundational skills, reach new milestones, and become safer and more confident in and around the water.

One moment can save a life.

A parked car can become dangerously hot in just minutes, even on days that don’t feel extreme. If you ever see a child alone in a hot vehicle, don’t wait. Take action immediately.

If you encounter a child in danger:

• 📞 Call 911 immediately.
• 🔨 If the child appears to be in immediate distress, find a sharp object and carefully break a window on the side of the vehicle away from the child.
• 🚗 Unlock the door and safely remove the child from the vehicle.
• 💧 If available, offer small sips of water while waiting for emergency responders.
• 🚑 Stay with the child until help arrives.

Never leave a child alone in a vehicle, even for a moment. Together, we can help prevent a tragedy and keep our children safe.

During the first five years of life, a child's brain develops at an incredible pace, and everyday activities help strengthen important skills along the way.

Try these simple brain-building activities this summer:

🕺 Freeze dance to build focus and self-control
