Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library! Those who attended learned about how they could contribute to our collections and how they could safely preserve their precious family documents and photographs for years to come.

Join Joanna Robotham, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Tampa Museum of Art, as she discusses three of Florida’s notable self-taught artists: Harold Newton, Purvis Young, and Ruby C. Williams. Newton, a member of the Florida Highwaymen, was known for coastal landscapes. Young’s Miami work reflected his observations of daily life. Miss Ruby created vibrant farm signs and paintings inspired by her faith.

Despite the hardships of the Jim Crow era, these artists turned adversity into a permanent legacy. Don't miss this chance to explore their stories and their masterpieces, on view across the Hillsborough County Library system.

It’s Girl Scout cookie season! The Girl Scouts of the USA was founded in 1912 and serves as a community service-oriented youth organization where members build their confidence and develop practical life skills. This circa 1960s photograph depicts the Belmont Heights Girl Scout Troop posing in the parking lot of Young Middle School, now known as Young Middle Magnet School.
