Congratulations to Tampa International Airport Police Department Citizen Police Academy (TPACPA) Class #14. TPACPA takes you behind the scenes and shows you a part of the rigorous training that prepares Officers for their daily duties of protecting and serving the Tampa International Airport. The department holds a spring and fall academy each year that consist of one evening session per week for eight continuous weeks.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

*Meet The Chief of Police and the command staff of TPAPD
*Go behind the scenes of patrol operations
*View a live TASER demonstration
*Tour facilities of the airport and police department
*Experience hands on fi****ms familiarization and weapon safety with certified fi****ms instructors
*View a K9 demonstration and participate with a K9 handler
*Complete our physical abilities test (Obstacle Course)
*Experience hands on decision making scenarios
*See specialty team demonstrations, and much more!

The Tampa International Airport Police Department is, once again, participating in Operation Southern Slow Down, an annual, week-long traffic safety campaign focusing on reducing speed-related crashes through a combination of increased enforcement and public education. The campaign is conducted in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and its division of the Florida Highway Patrol, local law enforcement agencies, and law enforcement and transportation agencies across the Southeastern United States. This effort aims to reduce speed-related crashes and fatalities on interstates and state highways.

Florida's campaign will kick off with press conferences in media markets across the state. The enforcement mobilization will run from July 13, 2026 through July 18, 2026.
