The Bay Area Apartment Association (BAAA) was created to extend one of the longest running associations of apartment owners, managers and related professionals in the country. BAAA is the result of a merger in 1988 between the Pinellas Apartment Association, first chartered on June 7, 1928 as the St. Petersburg Apartment House Association, Inc, and the Tampa Apartment Association chartered in 1963

. In 1988, the two associations merged and the name of the association was formally changed to the Bay Area Apartment Association to better reflect the regional identity of the membership. BAAA currently serves members in Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sumter, and Sarasota counties.
