OUR HISTORY: Nearly thirty years ago, the citizens of Hillsborough County agreed to invest a portion of their tax dollars to help children realize their dreams. They voted to create the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County, which has served as the leading voice and advocate for children and families across the community. Today, the Children’s Board invests in more than 90 programs that touch...

over 185,000 citizens every year. WHY INVESTING IN OUR CHILDREN MATTERS: Investing early in children and families isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do. In the past five years, the board has invested $32 million taxpayer dollars to generate $140 million new dollars into Hillsborough County – this demonstrates a return on investment of almost $5-to-$1 benefiting children and families. This has helped us reduce crime and teen pregnancies and improve financial self-sufficiency and overall economic prosperity.
