SHOPPING FOR A HOME? PROPERTY TAX INFO IS CHANGING!

Starting February 1, 2027, a new Florida law will change how property tax information is displayed on online residential real estate listings.

Why the change? The seller’s current property taxes may be very different from what a new owner could pay.

Under the new law, online listing platforms must provide an estimated property tax amount using standardized information—or direct buyers to the appropriate county property appraiser’s tax estimator or website.

The goal: Help homebuyers get a more realistic picture of potential property taxes before they buy.

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez was one of several elected officials and dignitaries on hand Saturday night to support the annual NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner at the JW Marriott in downtown Tampa. Henriquez was joined by his oldest daughter, Elin, and several members of his staff to hear an inspiring message from the event's keynote speaker, Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley, who is President and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women. Her organization is located in Washington, D.C. and is the only Black- and woman-owned building on Pennsylvania Avenue, midway between the U.S. Capitol and the White House. -Bradley

Bob Henriquez, the Hillsborough County Property Appraiser, was joined by his oldest daughter, Elin, and several members of his staff to help support Saturday night's NAACP Freedom Fund Dinner at the JW Marriott in downtown Tampa. The keynote speaker was Rev. Shavon Arline-Bradley, who is President and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women, located on historic Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C. The gala was attended by hundreds of local citizens, civic leaders, and visiting dignitaries.

Hillsborough County Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez honors our first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics. You can potentially qualify for 100% exemption from ad valorem taxes if you were:

-Employed by a Florida agency when you were injured
-Disabled in the line of duty
-Deemed disabled to a degree of Total and Permanent and unemployable

The exemption carries over to the benefit of your surviving spouse who does not remarry.
