Thank you to the Hillsborough County Public Schools School Nurses for the opportunity to share our Navigating Healthcare in Hillsborough County presentation.

Our Connecting Kids to Care Program Manager, Marcela Jimenez Ramirez, led an engaging discussion on navigating health coverage options for children and families. A special thank you to Michelle Ray and Kathmanda Edwin for sharing their expertise and thoughtfully answering the many complex questions from attendees.

School nurses play a vital role in connecting students and families to the care they need, and we are grateful for the opportunity to partner with them.

A special thank you to our Board Member and Supervisor of School Health Services, Dr. Maria Russ, for her leadership and for including the Family Healthcare Foundation in this important conversation.

Great news in Polk County!

The income guidelines have changed for Polk HealthCare Plan (PHP) eligibility. At the July 21 public hearing, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners approved a change to the Indigent Health Care Plan Extension Ordinance (No. 2015-076) which increases the maximum income eligibility for PHP to 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. Previously, the maximum income limit for PHP eligibility was set at 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Important attention from Spectrum Bay News 9 on the struggles of residents accessing basic needs.

Thanks to the Children's Board of Hillsborough County, our Healthcare Navigators provide support at the Sulphur Springs K-8 food pantry, and are at the United Way Suncoast Resource Center to help the Sulphur Springs community navigate resources.
