Through our Community Impact Investment, United Way Suncoast is helping vulnerable youth build the skills, confidence, and support systems they need to create brighter futures.

Meet Starting Right, Now and its Guidance, Rapport, Ambition and Development (GRAD) program, a trauma‑informed, evidence‑based initiative designed to empower unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness. Through after‑school classes and enrichment activities, participants gain the life skills, knowledge, and resources needed to succeed in school, pursue meaningful careers, and navigate adulthood with confidence.

By focusing on personal growth, resilience, and long‑term well‑being, GRAD helps young people overcome barriers and develop the tools they need to thrive both today and in the future.

Together, we’re empowering youth, strengthening communities, and creating pathways to lasting success.

Nearly 1,000 children across our region are heading back to school ready to succeed thanks to United Way Suncoast's Summer Care program and the generosity of our supporters.

This summer, children from ALICE families participated in enriching programs that strengthened literacy skills, encouraged exploration, and kept learning on track. Over the past two years, Summer Care has expanded from 634 scholarships at 27 sites to 990 scholarships at 54 sites across our five-county footprint.

Because of investments from donors and community partners, more children are entering the classroom confident, prepared, and ready to thrive. 💙

Thanks to Refresco North America's support, 360 local students will head back to school with the supplies they need to learn, grow and succeed. 🎒📚

For many ALICE families in our community, purchasing school supplies can mean making difficult tradeoffs between essentials like food, housing and utilities. By assembling 360 Back-to-School Kits, Refresco volunteers helped ensure students can focus on what matters most: learning.

Meet the Shirley Proctor Puller Foundation and its M.A.S.T.R. Kids® Program, which is dedicated to improving educational outcomes for children in the at‑risk community of south St. Petersburg. With a focus on literacy, leadership, and workforce readiness, the program empowers students to strengthen their reading, math, and science skills while developing the tools they need for future success.

By creating engaging learning opportunities and fostering a culture of achievement, M.A.S.T.R. Kids® is helping close the achievement gap and inspire the next generation of leaders.
