It is 122 Miles N of Boston, Massachusetts, 213 Miles SE of Montreal, Canada and 212 Miles NE of Albany New York. Tamworth is nestled between the Mount Washington Valley and the Lakes Region. The Town is at the southern edge of the White Mountains and is best characterized as the Gateway to the White Mountains. In addition, Tamworth is a popular vacation destination for many offering many camping,
and recreational opportunities. The community is spread over 60 square miles with diverse geography, ranging from numerous water bodies to mountainous topography. Tamworth Fire- Rescue is an all hazards, combination department of 32 members. The Fire Chief is the only career member, with 31 paid on-call members. Our department has 21 that are certified to FF I, and 10 of them are certified to FF II. We also currently have a total of 13EMT's (1 EMR, 5 EMT,6 AEMT, and 1 Paramedic). Additionally, a total of 9 members are cross trained duel certified FF/EMTS. Tamworth Fire merged with the Tamworth Rescue Squad in 2017, brining EMS only personnel to the department in the form of 5 EMT's, and 1 AEMT. Tamworth Fire- Rescue is 100% compliant with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and operates according to the Incident Command System. Tamworth Fire- Rescue's first due area covers 163 Sq. miles, including 20 Sq. Miles of the White Mountain National Forest, with 7300 Permanent resident and seasonal population increasing by over 18,000 people. Tamworth Fire- Rescue provides on-call coverage 365/24/7 for fire suppression, BLS/ ALS EMS, rescue operations, hazmat, fire prevention programs, search and rescue services, and Technical Rescue. Tamworth Fire-Rescue belongs to Ossipee Valley Mutual Aid Association and provides services to the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid as well. The Ossipee Valley Mutual Aid Association serves 12 Communities spread over 2 Counties covering 530.6 square miles. The Ossipee Valley Mutual Aid Association serves a year-round population of 42,944 and protects $8.3 billion dollars of property value. The Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid association serves a population of 118,757 year-round over a 1,494 square miles area. The Fire Department operates out of 4 stations located in each borough. The Tamworth Central Station located in the Village acts as the headquarters with the Wonalancet, Chocorua, and South Tamworth stations serving as a substation. In 2019 we answered 563 calls for service in our first due area to include: 14 structure fires, 34 false alarms/ good intent calls, 2 vehicle fire, 3 vegetation fires, 365 EMS response, 42 motor vehicle accidents, 31 other rescue incidents, 22 Hazmat, 35 service calls, and 15 other incidents. In addition, mutual aid was received 13 times, and mutual aid was provided to other communities 23 times
