Thanks to Keith Gillespie of Albany Fire for an awesome instructional and hands on training topic at drill last night: electrical vehicle fires. In most cases we will not put water on these fires and allow them to burn until the thermal runaway from the batteries has completed. The exception to this is when life safety is a factor or there are exposures that we can protect to limit fire spread. 🚫🔥

Drill Tuesday night was all about extrication, and our responders were met with a challenging scenario that involved a two vehicle motor vehicle collision with a pedestrian involved. Four patients (including an infant) were extricated, treated, and transported in our simulation. A great hands on training for everyone! 🚘💥🚙

🛑 Backyard burning in Linn County will close on June 1st. 🛑

Burning conditions and regulations can change depending on weather, fire danger and air quality. Residents are encouraged to stay informed.

The Linn County Fire Defense Board is made up of local fire chiefs and chief officers who are authorized to make decision on behalf of their respective agencies.

Last night at drill we trained on two important wildland topics: progressive hose lays and fire shelters. Progressive hose lays allow us to stretch hose quickly using specially designed hose packs to attack a fire and protect structures. Each of our wildland firefighters carries a fire shelter with them in case of an emergency where fire conditions change and they are suddenly threatened by fire without a good escape. We hope to never use these shelters, but we train with them every year so that we’re ready in the event they may be needed. ⭐️ Thanks to one of our local property owners for letting us use their land! 🌲🚫🔥
