Great news for the 115th Legislative District and Monroe County! More than $1.5 million in grant funding is coming our way to support infrastructure, public safety, economic development, and community revitalization projects.

These investments reflect a continued commitment to reinvesting gaming revenues directly back into the communities that make our region strong. By supporting infrastructure improvements, public services, and revitalization efforts throughout Monroe County and the 115th Legislative District, these funds will help create new opportunities for growth, strengthen our local economy, and enhance the quality of life for residents, while building a stronger, more connected community for the future.

❗The deadline for the 2025 Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program has been officially extended to Dec. 31! For assistance with applying, please contact my office at 570-894-7905.

The filing deadline for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program has been officially extended to December 31, 2026. This ensures that eligible seniors, widows and widowers, and those with disabilities have the time they need to apply for a rebate on property taxes or rent paid in 2025.

Rebates will start going out on July 1. If you haven’t applied yet, find out how you might be able to get $1,000 back in your pocket: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/revenue/newsroom/shapiro-administration-extends-deadline-for-property-tax-rent-rebate-program-to-december-31,-2026,-allowing-more-time-for-pennsylvanians-to-apply-for-tax-relief

I had a wonderful time at the Loder Center with a group of area seniors for one of my annual Ice Cream Socials. We enjoyed music, ice cream, a few laughs, and learned how to avoid scams with an informative presentation from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.

🟦 115th Legislative Roundup – Harrisburg & Home 🟦

A busy week connecting with advocates from across Pennsylvania and Monroe County working to strengthen our communities and services.

🏛️ In Harrisburg, we heard from statewide advocates including 💚 Youth Infusion on youth mental health, the League of Women Voters on voting access and civic engagement, and the United Disabilities Services Foundation on programs that help seniors and individuals with disabilities live independently.

🎗️ Youth Infusion also visited the House floor and met Speaker McClinton to highlight their important work supporting young people.

🦷 Before leaving Harrisburg, I was proud to see my dental legislation signed into law by Governor Shapiro, a meaningful step to improve access to oral health care.

🏠 Back in Monroe County, we hosted our Senior Ice Cream Social at The Mountain Center with music from Roy Ramos and information from the Attorney General’s Office on avoiding scams targeting seniors.

🎓 At Northampton Community College, I joined a legislative update on enrollment growth, successful dual enrollment programs, and expansion into skilled trades and workforce training. As a former communications professor at NCC, it is great to see its continued growth and impact on student success across our region.

We talk a lot about health care deserts in our state, but what about dental care deserts? Many people rely on free dental clinics staffed by students of educational institutions for much of their oral healthcare needs.

Even with insurance, the cost of dental care can be too high for many Americans to prioritize their oral health.

I am thrilled to announce that Governor Shapiro has today signed my legislation into law that will ease restrictions on dental school faculty to address educator shortages and expand access to care.

That means that we will have more students learning and entering the dental field to ensure more people can get the critical dental care they need! 🪥🦷

I was honored to be joined by more than 100 advocates, along with the powerful voices of Michael R. Galvin, Legislative Director for the Alzheimer’s Association, and Victoria Podwika Bayle, a 51-year-old woman living with early-onset dementia. Their perspectives are vital as we continue advocating for the more than 280,000 Pennsylvanians living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias across the Commonwealth. Having watched both of my parents battle Alzheimer’s, I understand firsthand the challenges of communicating with individuals living with dementia. That experience has driven me to introduce legislation establishing baseline dementia-care training requirements for emergency responders, ensuring they can engage safely, effectively, and compassionately with those in their care.
