East 10th Avenue will close to traffic between Ross Street (route 366) and Lock Street beginning at approximately 7:00 AM Monday and remain closed around-the-clock through late July. Crews will conduct full-depth reconstruction work of the road. All traffic will be detoured.

From Route 366, take the ramp to northbound Route 28 toward Kittanning
Continue northbound on Route 28
Take the Natrona (Exit 15) exit
Turn right onto Burtner Road
Continue to the intersection with Freeport Road/East 10th Avenue
End detour
East of the closure

Head east on East 10th Avenue/Freeport Road to Burtner Road
Turn left onto Burtner Road
From Burtner Road, take the ramp to southbound Route 28 toward Pittsburgh
Continue southbound on Route 28
Take the 366/Tarentum/New Kensington (Exit 14)
Turn left onto Route 366
Continue to the intersection with East 10th Avenue

The Borough has been made aware that several sellers and companies are offering T-shirts, hoodies, and other items that appear to suggest they are affiliated with, working for, or acting on behalf of the Tarentum Borough Police Department.

Please note that these items are not authorized, endorsed, sponsored, or approved by the Borough of Tarentum or the Tarentum Police Department.

Does anyone recognize this sweet young girl or know where she belongs? She was found in the alley behind the Salvation Army on Brackenridge Avenue wearing a chain leash. If you know the owner or know where she belongs, contact the Tarentum Police Department 412-473-3056.

The Tarentum Police Department and Tarentum Borough have been made aware of a phone scam in which individuals are falsely claiming to be the Tarentum Police Chief or a Tarentum police officer.

These scammers are using "spoofed" phone numbers to make it appear as though the calls are coming from Borough or Police Department numbers, including:
•724-224-1515
•724-224-1516
•724-224-1818

Residents have reported being told that they are wanted by Homeland Security or that there are warrants issued for their arrest.

Please be advised that law enforcement agencies do not conduct official business in this manner. If a warrant has been issued, officers will respond in person, or you will receive official notification by mail or through the court system.

Do not provide personal information, financial information, gift card numbers, payment information, or banking details to anyone who contacts you by phone claiming to be law enforcement.

If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately. If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, please visit us in person at Borough Building at 318 E. 2nd Avenue, Tarentum, PA 15084, or contact the Police Department directly through a verified number.

Please share this information with family members, neighbors, and especially elderly residents who are often targeted by these scams.

Tarentum Borough and the Tarentum Borough Police Department are aware of reports involving individuals falsely claiming to be members of the Police Department.

These individuals are contacting businesses and residents and advising them that they allegedly missed jury duty, are now in contempt of court, and must make immediate payment to avoid arrest or other legal action.

Please be advised that this is a scam.Law enforcement agencies and courts do not demand payment over the phone, through gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, or similar methods in order to resolve jury duty matters or avoid arrest.

Residents are urged not to provide personal information or payment information to these callers. If you receive one of these calls:
--Hang up immediately
--Do not send money or provide banking information
--Do not follow payment instructions provided by the caller
--Report the incident to local law enforcement

If you have any concerns regarding jury duty, please contact the appropriate court directly using publicly listed phone numbers.

We have received reports of students participating in a game commonly known as “Senior or Water Assassin.”

For those who may not be familiar, Senior/Water Assassin is a game where students are assigned a “target” and attempt to “eliminate” them using water guns, often over several days or weeks. While intended as a fun, end-of-year activity, it can sometimes create confusion or concern within the community.

In particular, many of the water guns used can closely resemble real fi****ms. This makes it difficult to tell the difference from a distance or in low light, which can understandably alarm residents and may result in a law enforcement response.

We ask all residents to remain aware of their surroundings and to report any situation that appears unsafe.

For students and families choosing to participate, please keep safety at the forefront:

• Do not use anything that resembles a real firearm
• Do not chase or follow others in vehicles
• Respect private property, local businesses, and those not involved
• Always prioritize safety over the game

Our goal is simple: allow students to enjoy this tradition while ensuring the safety and comfort of the entire community.

🚨GRANDMA SHOWED UP - ALL IS GOOD 🚨

We are seeking public assistance to find the parents or residence of this little cutie pie.

She curiously showed up, unattended, when all the fire trucks responded to a call in the 1000 block of Roup Ave.

She is currently at Fairmont Elementary with the PD and firemen.
