Some species tolerate saltwater, while others live only in freshwater, and not all species bite humans. 😮

Rain has returned to Pinellas County, and that means the opportunities for mosquitoes to breed has increased!
Did you know mosquitoes only need a 1/4 inch of standing water to complete their lifecycle? With the recent rains, this amount of water could be collecting in your yard!
Here are ways you can help prevent mosquito breeding to protect yourself from mosquito-borne diseases
✅ Dump any standing water around your property. This includes buckets, toys, gutters, plant pot saucers, or any other container that can hold water. If you cannot dump out the water, cover it completely or use a mosquito-specific bacteria like Bti to treat the water.
✅ Defend by using an EPA-registered insect repellent with a CDC recommended ingredient, such as Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus, DEET, Picaridan, or IR3535
✅ Dress in long-sleeved, light colored clothing with socks and shoes.
