Your life and the lives of others on the road are at risk every time a driver gets behind the wheel after drinking. Here are a few tips to stay safe.

✅Before drinking, choose a designated driver, or schedule a ride-sharing, ride-hailing or taxi service.
✅If you are hosting a party where there’s alcohol, offer non-alcoholic drink options and make sure all guests leave with a sober driver.
✅Always wear your seat belt — it's the best defense against drunk drivers.
✅If you see a drunk driver on the road, safely pull over and call law enforcement.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

The Tarpon Springs Police Department is aware of recent events occurring throughout the Tampa Bay area commonly referred to as “teen takeovers.” We want our community to know that we continue to actively monitor these incidents and any information that may indicate similar activity in our area.

Our personnel, including crime analysts, regularly monitor social media platforms, tip lines, and other intelligence sources while working closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies to maintain situational awareness and share information. These collaborative efforts help us identify potential concerns early and support our primary goal of protecting public safety.

We encourage residents, businesses, and visitors to report any information they may become aware of regarding planned or ongoing activities that could impact the safety and enjoyment of our community.

We appreciate the continued partnership and support of our community. Working together, we can help keep Tarpon Springs a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

School’s out, summer is here, and so are the 100 Deadly Days of Summer, the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when teen crashes increase nationwide.

In Florida alone, teen drivers were involved in more than 42,000 crashes in 2024.

This summer let’s flip the script. Parents, start the conversation. Set clear expectations and model safe driving habits.
