Tarrytown EMS

Tarrytown EMS TVAC provides emergency medical services for Tarrytown and its surrounding areas. TVAC is a privately owned 501(c)3 organization.

Established in 1967 the Tarrytown Ambulance Corp is a private, non profit, volunteer emergency medical service agency. Primarily serving the Village of Tarrytown, TVAC is committed to providing quality emergency medicine to villagers of Tarrytown and its surrounding mutual aid districts. While located in Tarrytown, TVAC is proud to have members not just from the Tarrytown area but from all over We

stchester and as far as the Bronx and Brooklyn. As an essential part of the Tarrytown community, TVAC is committed to outreach as much as possible. TVAC crews and members are constantly participating in stand-by's as well as first aid stations for local races and fairs. Community members looking for American Heart Association (AHA) CPR or First aid class can do so through TVAC and our certified, knowledgeable instructors. Costs for TVAC, like equipment, supplies, building costs and management are primarily covered by money recovered from insurance, grants and donations. It is with the help of the community that TVAC is continually able to provide services for the village of Tarrytown. If you are interested in donating to TVAC you can do so here: https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=UXRZKXJBP7SQJ

Junior Corp
In addition to our general membership, TVAC has a junior corp option for high school community students, aged 14-18. While not all junior corp members can ride on the ambulance they receive the same training as the general membership. All junior members become American Heart Association certified in CPR and First Aid. Along with these trainings they also get to participate in standby's, first aid stations and receive lectures from other local first responders and professionals, both volunteer and professional. If you are interested in becoming a member but have no training, TVAC will provide you with training. Please contact us through this page or through our website.

Thanks to all of our members who participated in the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow St Patrick’s Day Parade yesterday. In addition to this marching crew we were able to have all 3 ambulances (until B3 went in service)

Did you feel that?

Today’s minor earthquake near Sleepy Hollow caught many people by surprise. When something unexpected happens, it’s natural for residents to wonder what it might be.

Fortunately, today’s tremor was minor, but it serves as a reminder that being prepared for all types of emergencies is important.

Here are a few simple steps to help your household stay ready:

✔ Make an emergency plan (include children, seniors, pets, and those with access and functional needs): https://www.ready.gov/plan

✔ Build an emergency supply kit: https://www.ready.gov/kit

✔ Stay informed through official alerts: NY-Alert: https://alert.ny.gov/
Text Westchester to 333111 to receive county emergency alerts.

Prepared communities are stronger communities.

On Friday our members gathered at The Tapp (Tarrytown) to celebrate each other after another year of service to the community We responded to 1,416 calls for assistance and provided over 1,000 transports to area hospitals. Thank you to all who make our organization outstanding!

Big applause to our Volunteer of the Year, Hunter, who covered 646 shift hours and rode 121 calls. At only 17 years old, he also earned his EMT certificate and crew chief status all while keeping up with school and college applications. Congratulations!

❄️ WINTER STORM UPDATE – WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY ❄️
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Westchester County thru 1:00 PM Saturday.
🕓 Timing:
Snow is expected to begin around 4:00 PM today, though some areas may see snow start a bit earlier or later depending on location.
❄️ What We’re Expecting:
• Heavy snow at the start of the storm
• Snowfall rates greater than 1 inch per hour possible early on
• When snow is falling that hard, travel becomes extremely hazardous
• A widespread 6–8 inches of snow is expected countywide
• Some areas may see higher totals depending on where heavier snow bands set up
• Impacts are likely during the evening commute and overnight
🚗 Travel Impacts:
• Rapidly deteriorating road conditions
• Poor visibility during heavy snow bands
• Parkways, bridges, and untreated roads will be especially dangerous
🧤 Winter Weather Safety Tips:
• Avoid unnecessary travel, especially during the heaviest snowfall
• If you must drive, slow down and increase following distance
• Charge phones and keep flashlights handy
• Check on neighbors, especially seniors or those who may need help
• Bring pets indoors and keep them warm
• Use space heaters safely and never leave them unattended
• If power is lost, use generators outdoors only and away from windows and doors
📞 Important Reminders:
• Call 911 for emergencies only
• County, municipal, and state crews are actively treating roadways
Our emergency services teams are ready, but the safest move is staying off the roads during the heaviest snow. If you don’t need to be out, don’t be.
Stay safe, stay warm, Westchester. ❄️
