Meet Star ⭐, our little Eastern gray squirrel who came to us last Saturday. She arrived fat, hydrated, and absolutely perfect — no scratches, bruises, nothing… except for one oddly swollen eye.
Despite medications and ointments, it got worse. And when I say worse, I mean OMG worse. Check out the pictures.
We snagged a last-minute appointment with Dr. Zoo at Family Animal Hospital of Friendswood, where Star was treated like tiny royalty by Dr. Zoo and her girls. Her eye finally gave out and popped on the way there, but after an ultrasound, Dr. Zoo believes the swelling was between the eye and eyelid - which means Star will hopefully keep her eye! Keep your fingers crossed for her!
She’s not out of the woods yet. We’re continuing medications and ointments and hoping the inflammation stays away.
Sometimes the difference between giving wildlife a chance and having no options at all is access to a great veterinarian and the funds to pay for that care.
We’re sharing Star’s vet receipt so you can see exactly where your donations go. If you’d like to help with her bill, every dollar helps us keep saying yes to the next little wild one who needs us.
Whether you donate, send supplies, share our posts, or simply follow our page - every bit of support matters, and we appreciate all of it, and we appreciate you.
