Meet Madison! Madison is an eighth grader at Hoover Middle School.

"I really like how Hoover is inclusive with all of the activities and programs that are in place for students. My favorite class is American History with Ms. Baird because she teaches it very well and keeps us all interested. Hoover is an awesome school and has taught me how to become a leader."

Dear parents,

Earlier today, we were made aware of threats at our middle schools by a student in a middle school social media group. Local authorities were notified immediately and we partnered with them to investigate these threats. At this time, the situation has been contained and our local law enforcement has been in contact with the family of the student. The threats were deemed not credible and the safety of our students was not at risk. The student that made the threat was taken into custody by Taylor Police Department.

We ask again that you have a talk with your children about the severity of making threats, whether or not they are said or posted online as a joke. We have watched schools across Metro Detroit receive threats over the last few days, and law enforcement has been cracking down on the individuals who make them.

Please stress to your children the importance of bringing these threats to our attention as soon as possible. It’s pertinent that we learn of them quickly so we can work with our local authorities to determine their credibility and act accordingly.

Your child’s safety is and always will be our number one priority. We take situations like these very seriously and we work extremely close with law enforcement to investigate and deescalate. Thank you for trusting us with your children’s education and we will do everything we can to ensure their safety.

Sincerely,

Matthew Hall
