🏅 Our spotlight on TVPD’s award recipients moves this week to the Meritorious Service Award, presented at Taylorsville’s 30th annual City Awards Night.

Officers Haggard and Ipsen received the honor for service that went beyond the ordinary call of duty. Officer Haggard was recognized for quick thinking and decisive action during a dangerous wrong-way driving incident, while Officer Ipsen’s persistence and attention to detail during a routine patrol observation helped uncover a much larger criminal investigation.

🏅 We’re continuing to spotlight the recipients of nine TVPD awards presented at Taylorsville’s 30th annual City Awards Night.

This time, we’re recognizing Officer Johnson, recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for extraordinary service, persistence and investigative work that helped identify multiple victims and move forward a complex case involving a dangerous offender.

🍝🥗🥖 A huge thank you to The Old Spaghetti Factory in Taylorsville for opening their doors to TVPD officers for a recent lunch and treating us to a great meal.

Hundreds of motorcycle riders came together for the Ride for Fallen Officers over the weekend, honoring the Utah law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.

The ride concluded with a solemn ceremony at the Utah State Capitol, providing an opportunity to remember the lives, service and sacrifice of those who gave everything in the line of duty.

This annual ride is a powerful reminder that the sacrifices of our fallen officers are never forgotten. Their courage, dedication and commitment to protecting our communities continue to inspire the men and women who serve today.

🌟 What a great Night Out Against Crime in Taylorsville!

Thank you to everyone who joined TVPD and the Taylorsville Public Safety Committee for an evening of community connection as part of Starry Nights this past Friday. We were glad to have so many public safety partners, community organizations and local businesses there, including Unified Fire Authority, Taylorsville CERT, Amateur Radio, the Utah Department of Corrections, Intermountain Health, Texas Roadhouse, Raising Cane’s, the Army National Guard and our local food trucks.

Events like this are a great reminder that public safety is a team effort. Thank you to our partners and everyone who came out to spend the evening with us! 💙

🎒🏫 Welcome back to school! Today is the first day of classes for Granite School District students, and TVPD wishes them and their families, teachers and staff a safe and successful school year.

As everyone settles back into the school-day routine, please take a little extra time on the roads. When driving, slow down, watch carefully for students walking and biking, pay close attention at crosswalks and obey all traffic laws. Remember to stop for school buses with flashing red lights and extended stop signs, and wait until the lights stop flashing and the signs are fully withdrawn before continuing.

Students and pedestrians, please use sidewalks and crosswalks, look carefully before crossing and stay alert around traffic. A little extra patience and attention can make a big difference. Let’s all do our part to make it a safe school year!

🚓🚒 A fun night of community, connection and public safety is coming to Centennial Plaza!

Taylorsville’s Night Out Against Crime is happening tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the plaza, 2600 W. Taylorsville Blvd. Meet TVPD officers, firefighters and other public safety professionals, ask questions and learn more about keeping your neighborhood safe while enjoying demonstrations, activities, community booths, giveaways and more.

These photos from past years offer a glimpse of the fun. The event is part of Starry Nights @ the Plaza, with the Food Truck League food trucks there from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and free live music on the plaza stage. So bring the family, meet the teams who serve Taylorsville and enjoy a great night together at the plaza!

🚓🚒 Come say hello, ask questions and get to know Taylorsville’s public safety teams at Night Out Against Crime this Friday!

The free event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at Centennial Plaza, with demonstrations, activities, safety information, community booths, giveaways and plenty of opportunities to connect with TVPD officers, firefighters and other public safety professionals.

Due to an active police incident, officers have issued a shelter in place near the Heritage Townhomes, located about 2600 Heritage Park Road (5120 South). Please avoid the area.
