Firefighters participated in one of three training sessions this evening. Station 1 hosted training in BLS and Drone Operations. Our remaining members along with EMS attended a Landing Zone Safety Class taught by Air Evac at the Spencer County Extension Office.

Over the weekend firefighters responded to two medical calls to assist EMS and two fire alarms sounding.

This morning started with an elevator rescue call at the Spencer County Early Learning Center. No injuries reported.

August 25-27, 2026 BC Bill Wood and Fire Chief Nathan Nation attended the 2026 Kentucky Fire Chief’s Conference in Bowling Green.

Dr Candace Ashby Battalion Chief with the Indianapolis Fire Department was the keynote speaker on organizational leadership. The last day of the conference were presentations by the Kentucky USAR Task Force and Insurance Services Office-Verisk.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for chief officers to network from throughout the commonwealth.

Some of our members conduct drone training this evening. The video shows the demonstration of the speaker on the drone at approximately 130 feet.

This evening local emergency responders responded to Brashears Creek Road for a lawnmower accident which overturned in the creek. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the victim.

It is with great sadness that Franklin County Fire & Rescue announces the passing of Firefighter Kolby Tucker.

Kolby served our department for the past three years and was a highly valued member of our fire department family. His dedication, eagerness to learn, and desire to continually grow as a firefighter earned him the respect of those who had the opportunity to work alongside him.

Our thoughts are with Kolby’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, as well as his friends and fellow firefighters.

Out of respect for Kolby’s family, we ask that their privacy be respected in the days ahead.
