FUN FACT FRIDAY:

Did you know that in the mid-1970s, brothers Ray and Truman Jones invited fellow self-taught acoustic musicians to meet at the Sunset Motel in Taylorsville, MS?

On that fall evening, 27 musicians, along with the Jones brothers and their wives, gathered to organize the Magnolia State Bluegrass Association. The association was officially chartered as a Mississippi non-profit corporation on June 13, 1978.

Today, the association continues its mission of preserving and promoting bluegrass music with over 1,300 members residing across Mississippi and 13 other states.

To honor this history, a Magnolia State Bluegrass Association, INC marker has been displayed in Taylorsville but was recently been moved to the Taylorsville Train Depot.
