The monthly Town Council meeting was held on August 11, 2026.

▪️At their August 11th meeting, Town Council recognized Town of Tazewell Public Works Employees, Edward Hill and Glenn Illig. In an act of kindness in our community, both recently assisted a transit patron to ensure their safe crossing of the road👏👏

▪️Town Council also recognized Irma Mitchell for her many years of contributions to our community as the Tazewell County Fair Coordinator. In addition to the Fair, Irma has a long history of volunteerism and a desire to make our home a better and brighter place, as witnessed in our Main Street District through her hand in the formation of Tazewell Today 👏👏

▪️For their Business Recognitions, Town Council recognized local law firm Altizer, McGraw & French. David Altizer, representing fellow partners Alan McGraw and Mandy French, shared that their firm has been operating on Main Street in various partner names since the late 1880’s, which is an incredible accomplishment 👏👏

The Town of Tazewell has opened the registration period for the Fall Youth Spring Soccer program.
TO REGISTER:
⚽️ Visit Town Hall to pick up an application and register, or
⚽️ Download, print, and return the application to Town Hall. To download the application, please visit⬇️

⚽️ Open to ages Pre-K through 8th grade
⚽️ Register now through August 10th. After August 10th, a $5 late fee is applied per player. No registrations accepted after September 1st.
⚽️ Cost is $35 per player. A family discount is available for 2 or more players, at $30 per player.
⚽️ Games will be at Lincolnshire Park on Thursdays and will run from September 10th through October 22nd, with no game on October 8th.

📫 Notice is hereby given that the Town of Tazewell is issuing this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for Beautification Services for the 2027 season. Proposals will be accepted until August 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

The Town of Tazewell is accepting proposals from qualified candidates to render beautification services within the Town of Tazewell. The candidate will supply the Town of Tazewell with flowers/plantings/fertilizer/supplies/etc. needed to provide beautification to our town. Candidates must provide examples of previous work. A list of referrals is also preferred.

The Town of Tazewell requires flowers/plantings for the following (length x width x height):
• (1) raised bed at the Town Hall located on Central Avenue that is 73”x57”x11”
• (1) raised bed at the American Legion located on Central Avenue that is 58”x58”x15”
• (1) Rt 460 Welcome Sign near Fort Witten – 165”x36”x38”
• (1) Rt 460 Welcome Sign near Ramey’s – 165”x36”x21”
• (1) Rt 460 Welcome Sign near Moose property on Fincastle Turnpike - 108”x48”x16”
• (1) Welcome Sign near H&R Block – 96”x48”x16”
• (7) bridge baskets near Farm Bureau office on Riverside Drive – 20”x14”x9”
• (10) bridge baskets on Wilson Street – 40”x9”x9”
• (10) planter boxes – 40”x40”x40”
• (4) small boxes – 20”x20”x20”
• (65) hanging baskets – 20” round x 9” deep
• (7) planter boxes on Main Street – 40”x40”x40” (interior is 22” round x 40”)
• (9) hanging baskets for fence on Main Street boardwalk – 70”x10”
