EMS Week

This week is EMS Week. We would like to take some time to thank all of those who help us in the field and in the station with the EMS side of our department. From our EMRs and EMTs to the firefighters who show up to help us on medical calls when they come through, it takes everyone working together.

It takes a lot of time, effort, and care to do EMS, especially as a volunteer. We are grateful to have members, friends, and mutual aid departments that are willing to leave home at any hour of the day to help us and help others who call 911 requesting assistance.

Thank you for everything you do!

May training!

It was a nice day to get outside and enjoy the weather! For this months training we did exactly that. We went over proper hose deployment for arriving on scene to different types of emergencies and how each one works best. Along with hose tactics and how to petiole fight fires in different scenarios. We ended with operating ground monitors, master streams on the fire engines, and fire pump operation.

❗️URGENT❗️
The first of the dangerous weather is expected to arrived to our area in around 20 minutes. If you look to the west you can see it approaching.

❗️Monitor the local weather channel❗️
❗️Make sure family and friends are accounted for❗️
❗️Don't chase storms❗️
❗️Seek shelter away from windows and doorways❗️

⚠️ Severe & Potentially Dangerous Weather ⚠️

Please take a few minutes to read the post below from the US National Weather Service Sioux Falls South Dakota. We are at a high risk for dangerous weather tonight into Monday.

As we get closer to tonight, here are a few things to make sure of:

Charge electronic devices
Have an emergency kit ready (first aid kit, water, blankets, etc.)
Keep window blinds closed and stay away from windows (Flying Debris)
Avoid unnecessary travel
If a tornado warning is issued or large hail is observed, move to the lowest level of your structure and stay away from windows

If you plan on using a generator, please do not run it in your garage. Many people think running a generator in their garage is safe, but this is untrue. Carbon monoxide (CO) can build up and seep through door seals into your home, creating a VERY dangerous situation.

If you need to run a generator during a power outage, keep it well away from doors, windows, and vents, and use properly rated extension cords to reach the necessary areas safely.

⚡ CAUGHT RIDING RIGHT! ⚡
This weeknd you’ll start to see TPD officers handing out these “Caught Riding Right” reward cards to kids riding safely throughout our community! 👏🏻

This new community safety initiative is focused on encouraging:
✔️ Helmet use
✔️ Following rules of the road
✔️ Responsible and aware riding habits

Kids who are “caught riding right” can take their reward card to participating Tea businesses to redeem a special reward! 🎉

Current participating businesses include:
🍕 Pizza Ranch
☕ Scooter's Coffee

As e-bike and scooter usage continues to grow throughout Tea, this campaign is designed to promote education, awareness, and positive community engagement while helping encourage safe riding habits for everyone. There’s more to come. Stay tuned!

GO BE SAFE!

Thank you to our local businesses, Tea Chamber and community partners for helping make this program possible!
