Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps Teaneck’s only 911 ambulance service since 1939 All of our members are volunteers, serving the township 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without pay.

The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps was created by just a few men in 1939 to serve the residents of Teaneck, NJ. We have always been Teaneck's only emergency ambulance service, and have since grown to include over 100 members in our organization. We respond to over 4,000 emergency calls a year, routinely saving lives and reducing suffering with our rapid response and application of Basic Life Su

pport skills. We are your neighbors.................students, teachers, doctors, firefighters, theater workers, technology professionals and healthcare administrators. We are also highly trained certified Emergency Medical Technicians who regularly continue our education by taking courses to stay current on improvements in CPR techniques and first-aid equipment. The Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps works with the Teaneck Police Department, Teaneck Fire Department and paramedics from area hospitals to bring you the care that you need, regardless of the hour of day or day of the week. TVAC would cease to exist to provide that care if it were not for the generous financial contributions of our residents and former patients. Protect Your Health on Poor Air Quality Days

Poor air quality can occur when wildfire smoke or other pollutants increase the amount of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the air. These tiny particles can travel deep into the lungs and may worsen existing health conditions.

Sensitive populations (which includes the elderly, infants and young children, people with lung diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema or chronic bronchitis) should remain indoors.

Individuals with asthma: Poor air quality may trigger asthma attacks.
Individuals with respiratory diseases: Follow physician's recommendations and respiratory management plan.

People in general should avoid strenuous activities and limit the amount of time they are active outdoors.

For people who work outdoors or need to be outside:

Take more breaks indoors if possible. Shorten the length and intensity of any physical activity. The most effective way to prevent breathing harmful particles from wildfire smoke is to stay indoors with windows and doors closed.

If an air conditioner is available, run it while keeping the fresh-air intake closed and the filter clean to prevent outdoor smoke from getting inside.

When outdoor air quality is poor, do not use candles and fireplaces which could add to indoor air pollution. Do not vacuum, because vacuuming stirs up particles already inside your home. Do not smoke to***co or other products, because smoking puts even more pollution into the air.

Do not rely on dust masks for protection. Paper “comfort” or “dust” masks commonly found at hardware stores trap large particles, such as sawdust. These masks will not protect your lungs from smoke. People who must be outside can have some protection from an N95 mask if worn properly. Before spending time outdoors, check local air quality conditions and forecasts at www.AirNow.gov

This past weekend, many of our members and their families took advantage of the beautiful weather and visited TVAC President Danny Senter’s family farm. The day included visiting the farm animals, kayaking, blueberry picking, hay rides and more! The day concluded with a delicious barbecue dinner.

While everyone enjoyed the various activities around the farm, the highlight of the day was visiting TVAC’s historic Ambulance 73. A 1989 GMC, 73 was in active service at TVAC for 35 years, and was retired in 2024.

Thank you to the Senter family for once again hosting us at your home and for providing our members with this incredible bonding experience!

We were thrilled to once again march in Teaneck’s Township of Teaneck Independence Day parade! Our fleet of five ambulances, gator, and special operations truck made their way down Queen Anne Road, as well as many members from our robust membership and their families. Despite the heat, we were thrilled to greet our neighbors as we marched, and we are so thankful for all of your support!!!

After the parade, we stood by at Teaneck’s Annual Independence Day festival at Votee Park. Following the festival, we celebrated the day with our Annual Membership Appreciation barbecue.

We also attended the Bergen County Fireworks Spectacular at Overpeck Park, where we stood by in case of emergency and celebrated America’s 250th birthday with the rest of Bergen County.
