Congratulations to Keystone Behavioral Health! Their services are much needed and appreciated in our community.

I was glad to cheer them on at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with other members of the York County Mental Health Task Force.

Today is Election Day for the U.S. Senate Special Republican Primary Runoff.

Polls are open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Voters should confirm their polling place before heading to the polls.

I voted.

Early voting is 8:30am-5pm through Friday 8/21/2026 in Rock Hill and York. (The SCVotes.gov website was wrong and the Fort Mill site is not open for early voting! It’s corrected now though.)

Great way to stay apprised, and/or voice your opinion during public comments. If you miss it (or need to hear something twice!) you can watch on the city’s YouTube channel.

City Council will hold its regular meeting on Monday, August 17th at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers.

The meeting will include the swearing-in of new Commission and Committee Members, along with a benchmarking presentation from the Development Services Department. Council will also consider several items in new business, including awarding the HVAC Preventative Maintenance bid, extending the Beach & Swim Center Concessions Agreement, and amending the existing Golf Management Agreement. The South Carolina Forum event this week in York County admirably brought people together about critical topics that SC residents previously identified as impacting our state. Each individual, with differing backgrounds and politics, used his/her lens of experience to suggest solutions. Then each group proposed solutions for their assigned issue.

The SC Forum will continue, ultimately resulting in a piece of SC legislation! This model has worked in other states and now SC is trying. How’s that for working towards real improvement!?

I didn’t know most of the people in the room and met people from Lake Wylie, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay, and York County. If you received “the letter” from the other candidate during my city council campaign from then you should hear that Mallory Dittmer for Congress was there. I was glad to see my former colleagues from SC Women in Leadership at this good event too.

I’ve been volunteering through Tega Cay Healthy Kids for nearly 12 years, and it just keeps getting better.

These past two years I’ve been privileged to collaborate with the brand new Tega Cay LEO Club, in partnership with outstanding organizations and supported by incredible people I’ve met through years of volunteering in community coalitions and nonprofits. We are responding to a community need - kids’ bike & scooter safety.

As I say for the annual TCES Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Days that I coordinate - we are supporting not just physical and mental health but also community, safety, and the environment. And it’s so much fun.

Do you remember the 2019 Bike Rodeo that I worked with my son to organize at Runde for his GHMS Pay it Forward project which also brought awareness to the future All Play Together playground at Trailhead? We also leveraged the Tega Cay Healthy Kids platform. It was a joy to do that with him, and now this with my daughter and her fellow Leos.

Please be on the lookout for this same event next year to sign your kids up and tell your neighbors about! I am thankful to all who helped or attended.

You know I think local media is important - and I like to start my weekday with WRHI Radio.

Just last week I was at the station to promote the 2nd Annual Bike & Scooter Safety Rodeo with the Tega Cay LEO Club and Tega Cay Healthy Kids on Palmetto Mornings. Local radio helps build community and keep us informed.
