I was too busy enjoying myself with friends at Maisie's Green Brae to get photos. (Except when we saw how fabulous the drinks looked, then tasted, we thought to pull out our cameras.)

The place looked great, the food and drink were excellent, and the atmosphere so warm and friendly.

I returned later in the night to get takeout for my kids, and know I’ll be going back again! Best wishes for much success to this new Tega Cay-owned and dog-friendly restaurant. (Is that Maisie in the foam!?)

Tega Cay residents - did you know there is a weekday express commuter bus running between Rock Hill, with stops in Baxter Village and Carowinds, and uptown Charlotte? It is about to be cancelled.

Please take this survey if you ride it.

It’s a nice ride - get on by the Baxter library and off near my Charlotte office 🙂 / NASCAR Museum / Spectrum Center, or transportation center (Greyhound bus).

Below the city asks you to take the survey (before 6/30/26) if you would consider using the bus - though the survey doesn’t ask you about that.

Rock Hill, Charlotte, state and federal funding, and people’s fares, have funded for the route (though the fare-swipe machine is often not working) for 20+ years. Residents are asking Tega Cay, Fort Mill and York County to contribute towards the $10K monthly cost that Rock Hill no longer plans to pay.

The City is seeking feedback from residents regarding the use of the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Route 82-X Bus Route. If you currently ride the 82-X, have ridden it in the past, or would consider using it in the future, please take a few moments to complete the survey below. Deadline for completion is Tuesday, June 30th.

The Dam-to-Dam event by The Goat Boater, Lake Wylie Paddleboarding (of Tega Cay) and 24 Foundation is next week!

Paddling from Mount Holly to Tega Cay, the paddlers are raising money for support and services for folks battling cancer. This is my friend’s third year paddling; you can find the link to her fundraising page, and info on this event, in the Comments below.

I rode the commuter bus line to/from Charlotte yesterday (Baxter stop). Here’s to hoping our TC city council can work with other communities to keep the 82x from getting cancelled!

Public transportation is important.

See you at the TC city council meeting tonight - with approval of the annual budget and clarification of "abandoned and derelict vehicles in yards" ordinance of particular interest.

I commend city council for transparency in the budget process - livestreaming and posting the budget discussions to its YouTube channel, and summarizing the discussion in the notes. I also appreciate the city manager's summary and hearing committee updates. As part of those updates today, I hope that Councilmember Foltz shares about the RFATS Policy Committee meeting he attended in Mayor Miller's place on Friday, including the commitment he made to the Tega Cay residents who made public comments about hardships from the planned cancellation of the CATS Bus 82X from Baxter to Charlotte (our closest public transportation option), as well as Safe Streets for All and the grant funding allocation discussions. I hope our council will support livestreaming RFATS Policy Committee meetings which are info packed and allocate and oversee a lot of public money.

City Council will meet at 6 PM on Monday, May 18th in the Council Chambers of the Glennon Center.

The meeting will begin with a Public Hearing on the 2026-2027 City Budgets followed by a series of proclamations National Safe Boating Week, National Public Works Week, National Tennis Month, Friends Helping Friends.

New business includes consideration of an ordinance related to abandoned and derelict vehicles and a resolution to rename City Hall the "Anthony Tarulli Building".

Today is the last day that residents can take the York County Library Strategic Plan survey. Remember that Tega Cay has doubled in population but our library (Baxter/Fort Mill) has not!

Copying from another post:

“The county is updating the 10‑year plan for the entire library system, and the resident survey is still open. This is the main tool the consultants and Library Board use to determine future space, staffing, programs, and potential new branches across all of York County.

This isn’t just a Fort Mill issue — the data shows a county‑wide gap:

• York County’s population has grown over 30% in the last decade, but library square footage has grown 0%.

• Several branches are operating at 2–3× their intended capacity during peak hours.

• Countywide program attendance has increased over 60%, but staffing and space have not kept pace.

• York County ranks below state and national averages in library space, seating, and meeting rooms per resident.

• Growth in Fort Mill, Lake Wylie, Rock Hill, Clover, and Tega Cay is putting pressure on the entire system.

This survey is the one place where residents can directly influence what the county prioritizes in the next decade.”

**Reminder - Survey ends tomorrow, May 15!**
