From border to border, Nebraska Extension is making an incredible impact on the success of our state — its youth, its families, its farms and ranches, its communities, its economy. Nebraska Extension in Burt County delivers research-based education and information to citizens throughout the county. These educational programs, delivered via a variety of methods, are offered through a federal, state

and county partnership arrangement. Our staff of extension educator and extension specialists, technicians, and support personnel specializes is providing programs throughout the county, and together with staff from all of Nebraska's 93 counties, we contribute to more than 1.5 million educational contacts each year with Nebraska citizens. Our 4-H Youth Development Program, for example, reaches more than two hundred youth in Burt County alone. Statewide, 4-H touches the lives of more than 90,000 youth each year. Nebraska Extension is built to provide practical education that focuses on issues which influence daily life that helps to keep Nebraska competitive in a global society. Extension Specialists and Extension Educators are committed to a theme of excellence with educational programs customized to meet the needs of Nebraskans.

Drought, frost, and other stress conditions can increase nitrate and prussic acid levels in many summer annual forages. Stop by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln building at Husker Harvest Days to visit with our livestock team about managing risk and pick up nitrate and prussic acid testing kits.

Post #1 Nebraska 4-H Weekend at the Nebraska State Fair is officially a wrap, and what a weekend it was for Burt County 4-H! 💚🍀
We had so many incredible moments to celebrate—including multiple Special Recognition honors, TWO exhibits selected for the prestigious Design Gallery, and TWO exhibitors in the Final Drive! 🤩 These are huge accomplishments, and I couldn't be more proud of our Burt County youth.
But honestly… the ribbons, banners, and awards are only part of the story.
The confidence built when a young person realizes, “I did that” is without measure. It's the skills they gain through years of trying, learning, practicing, and sometimes trying again. It's the friendships, the family memories, the conversations on the way home, and the pride that comes from seeing hard work pay off.
I love getting to spend these weekends with our 4-H families, cheering on our kids, celebrating their successes, and being in their corner through every step of the journey. 💚
Because someday, the ribbons may be packed away—but the confidence, resilience, skills, and memories they gained along the way will stay with them for a lifetime.
Congratulations, Burt County 4-H! I am so incredibly proud of you all! 🍀💚
