Although he has a few more days left before officially retiring, we recently celebrated the remarkable career of Chief of Police Randall "Randy" Floyd, Badge 06, with friends, family, and community members.
Chief Floyd began his law enforcement career nearly 40 years ago with the West Rockhill Township Police Department (now the Pennridge Regional Police Department) before joining the Telford Borough Police Department. A lifelong resident of the Indian Valley, Randy worked as a carpenter, in security, and in human services before attending the Montgomery County Police Academy and beginning a career dedicated to serving others. Beyond policing, Chief Floyd was also a volunteer firefighter, worked in EMS, and volunteered at Grand View Hospital during the early stages of his career.
Throughout his career, Chief Floyd completed approximately 2,500 hours of continuing education and became a respected instructor in child abuse investigations, online safety, domestic violence, juvenile justice, and law enforcement records management. He also served as an instructor at the Montgomery County Police Academy and was also an adjunct professor for college courses. Chief Floyd earned his M.B.A. in Organizational Management from Eastern College and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy, 191st Session.
During his tenure with Telford Borough, Chief Floyd rose through the ranks and obtained numerous positions from Patrol Officer to Field Training Officer, Juvenile Officer, SWAT Negotiator, Detective, Lieutenant, and ultimately Chief of Police. His leadership, professionalism, and commitment to the department have left a lasting impact on both the organization and the community it serves.
Beyond his law enforcement career, Chief Floyd has remained deeply committed to helping others. Through Rotaplast, a humanitarian program supported by Rotary International, he has traveled to many underserved countries to assist those in need of life-changing medical care. He has also served on numerous local boards and organizations, continually working to strengthen and improve Montgomery County.
When he isn't serving others, Chief Floyd enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. In retirement, he looks forward to making even more memories with his wife, two children, and four grandchildren.
