💚🎗️ National Cancer Survivors Day 🎗️💜

National Cancer Survivors Day is a time to celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of those who have faced a cancer diagnosis and continue to inspire others through their journey.

According to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, a cancer survivor is anyone living with a history of cancer, from the moment of diagnosis through the rest of life. Today, millions of people around the world are living as cancer survivors, a testament to advances in early detection, treatment, research, and patient care.

This day is also an opportunity to recognize the families, friends, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who provide support throughout treatment and recovery. Their compassion and dedication play an important role in every survivor's journey.

While significant progress has been made in the fight against cancer, National Cancer Survivors Day also reminds us of the importance of continued research, education, and access to quality care. Most importantly, it offers hope to those currently facing a diagnosis by showing that they are not alone.

Today, we honor cancer survivors, remember those we have lost, and stand with everyone affected by cancer.

D-DAY

On June 6, 1944, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, forever changing the course of World War II.

More than 160,000 American, British, and Canadian troops crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, in a massive operation involving over 5,000 vessels. Through extraordinary planning, sacrifice, and courage, the Allies established a foothold in Western Europe that would ultimately lead to the liberation of France and the defeat of N**i Germany.

Today, we remember the bravery of those who served on D-Day and honor the countless sacrifices made in the fight for freedom.

🌍 WORLD DAY OF ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY 🌍

World Day for Assistive Technology was first established in 2024 through the efforts of the organization Unlock the Everyday.

This day helps raise awareness about the importance of assistive technology and the need to ensure individuals around the world have access to the tools and resources they need to live more independently and participate fully in everyday life.

The movement also encourages communities, policymakers, and the public to support greater accessibility and inclusion, especially in low-income countries where access to assistive technology may be limited.

Today serves as a reminder that accessibility and inclusion create stronger, more connected communities for everyone.

🦖DINOSAUR DAY 🦖

While no one knows exactly the dates, some scientists have researched and estimated that non-bird dinosaurs probably were roaming the planet in the time range from 245 to 66 million years ago, which was still millions of years prior to human history.

The era in which dinosaurs lived, the Mesozoic Era, which is a geological age that can be divided into three parts: Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous.

The first evidence of the existence of dinosaurs on the planet that was discovered by humans happened in 1677 when naturalist and Oxford professor, Robert Plot, found a lone bone from a dinosaur. Since he didn’t really know what it was, Plot’s best guess was that it had come from a giant human.

More than 100 years later, when William Buckland became the first geology professor at Oxford University in the early 1800s, a fossil was identified as being from a dinosaur.

It was in 1815 when he discovered teeth, jaw and limb bones that he found more bones in his travels. In 1824, he determined that these bones must have been from some extinct creature.

Eventually, by 1842, this family of fossils was grouped together by scientist Sir Richard Owen, who called it “Dinosauria”, which translated to “terrible lizard”. Owen would eventually go on to found London’s Natural History Museum in 1881 and that museum is still famous for its dinosaur bone collections today.

It’s no surprise that creatures with such a mysterious history would fascinate and confound even the most intelligent and educated scientists. Today, children and adults of all ages love learning more about the types of dinosaurs, how they lived, what they ate, and so much more. 🦕

WORLD MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS(MS) DAY began in 2009. It was initiated by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) to raise global awareness about MS and to connect the millions of people affected by the disease, including those living with MS, their families, caregivers, and health professionals.

From the beginning, the focus has been twofold: increasing public understanding and pushing for improvements in the systems that shape people’s lives, including access to diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and supportive policies.

World MS Day is as much about community as it is about information. It creates a shared moment where individuals and organizations can coordinate campaigns, host events, and share stories in a way that feels unified rather than isolated.

It encourages people with MS to feel seen, and it invites everyone else to learn how to show up, not with pity, but with respect, practical understanding, and the willingness to improve the world’s accessibility and compassion.

Through these efforts, World MS Day plays a vital role. It brings sustained attention to MS, amplifies the voices of those living with it, and encourages action that can improve daily life. The day continues to inspire hope and momentum globally, one conversation, one accommodation, and one shared story at a time.
