Drivers paused at lights, pulled out their cell phones to take pictures and watched the bright lights pass by. The backs and sides of each truck were outfitted with flashing LED lit political ads measuring roughly 10-feet wide by 6-feet tall. Their message, "Vote Democrat, Get $1200," was very big indeed.

The message on the two trucks with the blue electronic billboards was hardly subtle and impossible to miss as they rolled through the busy streets of Atlanta.

From AJC: “And Georgians departing Biden’s Atlanta event on Tuesday might have seen strategically placed billboards from RelationPAC seizing on the party’s support for more generous stimulus checks: “Vote Democrat. Get $1,200.”

“Republicans won down-ticket in November with blunt messages warning Democrats were defunding the police and closet socialists. We should be really direct, too, and say if you vote Democrat, you’re going to get a check,” said Jon Jones, a former Barack Obama strategist who is placing the signs in heavily Democratic neighborhoods.”

Both sides agree...the only way to get relief after Jan 20 is a Democratic congress and electing 2 Democratic Georgia Senators.

“If you’re interested in more relief, the choice is super clear in Georgia,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.).

“It will be hard to get the [GOP] majority to do another one. That’ll be a challenge,” Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) said.

“A lot of it probably depends on what happens in Georgia,” said Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.). “If we address the critical needs right now and things improve next year as the vaccine gets out there and the economy starts to pick up again there may be less of a need.”

Republicans and Democrats see Covid relief as a winning issue in the battle over the Senate.
