The response from our community has been incredible. ❤️
A huge thank you to all of the local daycares, camps, families, and community members who created cards and letters for our firefighters. Your colorful artwork, kind words, and messages of encouragement are making their way into the hands of those working long days on the front lines of wildfire response.
Many of the cards have already been delivered to the USDA Forest Service Station in Montrose, where firefighters from Colorado and across the country, BLM and US Forest Service gather for daily briefings and assignments, including the Gold Mountain Fire. More cards will be displayed at Telluride Fire Protection District's Station 3 in Placerville, home to our wildland crew and where many of our firefighters deploy from to assist on wildfires throughout the region.
These simple acts of kindness mean so much. They serve as a reminder that the Telluride community is standing behind those working tirelessly to protect our forests, homes, and neighbors.
We'll keep the card box out at Station 1 the remainder of fire season, so if you'd still like to participate, there's plenty of time. Together, let's keep sending a little piece of Telluride wherever the fire season takes our crews. ❤️🔥
