The Telluride Marshal’s Department arrested Miles Edward Warinner, also known as Miles Warner, on May 21, 2026, for alleged violation of Colorado Revised Statute 18-3-412.5, Failure to Register as a S*x Offender.

The Marshal’s Department became aware that Warinner had been living in the region and working locally as a DJ. According to the investigation, he allegedly attempted to conceal his identity through multiple methods, including changing his name.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Telluride Marshal’s Department at 970-728-3818.

Electric Dirt Bikes Are NOT Allowed on Paths or Sidewalks

We’ve recently seen electric dirt bikes being ridden on the bike path and on Colorado Ave. This is not allowed.

These vehicles are not e-bikes. They are classified as motorcycles/dirt bikes and must follow motor vehicle laws.

Electric dirt bikes:
• Not allowed on bike paths, sidewalks, or trails
• Not allowed anywhere motorized vehicles are prohibited
• To ride on the road, you must:
–- Be at least 16 years old
–- Have a valid driver’s license
–- Have the vehicle registered with the State of Colorado

E-bike reminder: E-bikes must follow all traffic laws, including speed limits, stop signs, and safe passing. Riders may only carry as many people as the bike is designed for.

E-bike classes:
• Class 1: Pedal assist only, up to 20 mph. Allowed on paths and trails
• Class 2: Pedal assist + throttle, up to 20 mph. Allowed on paths and trails. Pedal only on Town trails & throughout park space including the River Trail and Town Park.
• Class 3: Pedal assist only, up to 28 mph. 16+ only, helmet required under 18, not allowed on paths or sidewalks.

Parents—please talk with your kids about safe and legal riding.
Adults—you should know these rules.

This is your warning. Citations will be issued moving forward.

Recientemente hemos visto motos eléctricas todoterreno circulando por el carril bici y por Colorado Ave. Esto no está permitido.

Estos vehículos no son bicicletas eléctricas. Se clasifican como motocicletas/motos todoterreno y deben cumplir la normativa de tráfico aplicable a los vehículos de motor.

Motocicletas eléctricas todoterreno:
• No están permitidas en carriles bici, aceras ni senderos
• No están permitidas en ningún lugar donde estén prohibidos los vehículos motorizados
• Para circular por la carretera, debes:
– Tener al menos 16 años
– Tener un permiso de conducir válido
– Tener el vehículo matriculado en el estado de Colorado

Recordatorio sobre las bicicletas eléctricas:
Las bicicletas eléctricas deben cumplir todas las normas de tráfico, incluidos los límites de velocidad, las señales de stop y los adelantamientos seguros. Los ciclistas solo pueden llevar tantas personas como las que la bicicleta esté diseñada para transportar.

This document is NOT legitimate.

Scammers are distributing these notices in an attempt to collect money. The document may look official and includes a QR code—but do not scan the QR code or provide any payment or personal information.

What to know:
• This is not issued by the Town, courts, or any official agency
• Do not respond, pay, or scan the code
• If you receive one, dispose of it

If you are ever unsure about a notice, contact the appropriate agency directly using verified contact information—not what’s listed on the document.

Stay alert and help spread the word to protect others in our community.

The Town of Telluride and Telluride Marshal’s Department are aware of the recent federal indictment of Brandon Baker in Iowa for charges related to child sexual abuse material. Mr. Baker is currently detained by the United States Marshal’s Service in Iowa. His next scheduled court date is March 6, 2026.

The Telluride Marshal’s Department has been and continues to cooperate with the Department of Homeland Security and other law enforcement agencies in an active, multi-jurisdictional investigation. Because this matter is under investigation, the Town will not provide additional details at this time.

From CDOT: significant travel delays tomorrow (Thursday) around Lizard Head Pass:
Starting at 8am CDOT will be conducting “safety-critical winter maintenance” operations on Highway 145 beginning south of Rico continuing north to Trout Lake (mm 44-61). Traffic will be stopped in both directions at various locations. Motorists should expect delays lasting upwards of 30 minutes or more for much of the day. Closure times will vary in length depending on the amount of snow that needs to be cleared by crews, as well as severity of potential avalanche danger. CDOT urges motorists to plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.

The Telluride Marshal’s Department is investigating a burglary that occurred at Overland Sheepskin Co. at 100 West Colorado Avenue, Unit A, on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at approximately 4:48 a.m.

The suspect entered the closed shop, stole several thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise, and fled. Surveillance footage shows the suspect heading westbound on Colorado Avenue before entering the Winter Crown breezeway. The female suspect appears to be slight in build and was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt or jacket, a hat with ear flaps, a large yellow scarf, and jeans. She was accompanied by a person of interest described as a middle-aged man with long hair, a khaki hooded jacket, a button-down shirt, and a colorful hat with a smiley face on it. Several rugs and furs are known to be among the stolen items, though inventory is ongoing.

The Marshal’s Department asks all area businesses to review their surveillance footage and check for missing merchandise, as it is unclear whether this was a targeted burglary or an opportunistic theft. Other businesses may also have been impacted or had entry attempts.

The Telluride Marshal’s Department is pursuing all leads as this open and active investigation continues. Members of the public with information, including eyewitness accounts or footage from business or home cameras, are asked to contact the department by emailing [email protected] or calling (970) 249-9110.
