A post from Stephanie Dennis, a member of our group. Please review and provide feedback if you can. Thanks.

Hello!

My name is Stephanie and I am the podcast host of the Career Talk: Learn, Grow, Thrive podcast. I talk about all things career and job hunting related. You can check it out on iTunes for iPhone users, several apps for Android but Stitcher is more common.

I am working on a podcast I'd like to release next month focusing on veterans transitioning from the military into civilian work.

It would be helpful to get a 2 sided perspective 1) the HR/recruiting side (me) and 2) a veteran's perspective. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of someone I could talk with or even IM with? The person wouldn't have to be recorded and could remain anonymous if they would like.

Some of the questions are:

How do you know what you do, or what you're qualified for, after the military?

Does the military help with career mapping / career planning?

What were the biggest struggles going from military to civilian work?

How did you overcome those struggles?

What, if any, were some specific struggles or barriers you encountered when working specifically with HR or recruiting?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated, I am hoping to help others who might be struggling with this!

- Stephanie
