On Navajo Code Talkers Day, AIGA honors the courageous Navajo servicemen whose language, ingenuity, and bravery forged an unbreakable code that helped secure victory in World War II. We remember their extraordinary service, sacrifice, and enduring legacy.

Congratulations to the newly sworn-in 2026–2028 The Cocopah Indian Tribe Tribal Council!

Today, the Arizona Indian Gaming Association proudly congratulates the Honorable Chairwoman Sherry Cordova, Vice-Chairman Neil White, Councilwoman Wynnie Ortega, Councilwoman Florence M. Fitch, and Councilwoman Jennifer Townsend, who were officially sworn in to serve the Cocopah Indian Tribe for the 2026–2028 term.

We send a special congratulations to Chairwoman Sherry Cordova, who also serves as Chairwoman of Arizonans for Tribal Government Gaming (ATGG). Today’s swearing-in marks an extraordinary milestone as she begins her 31st year of service as Chairwoman, celebrating 30 years of dedicated leadership. Her unwavering commitment to Tribal sovereignty, Tribal gaming, and strengthening opportunities for Tribal Nations has made a lasting impact throughout Arizona and Indian Country.

We wish the entire Cocopah Tribal Council continued success as they lead their community with vision, integrity, and service. AIGA looks forward to continuing our strong partnership in support of Tribal self-determination, economic prosperity, and a brighter future for all.

🌄🌊 As we close out our Great Outdoors Month series, we celebrate the Colorado River, one of Arizona's most iconic natural treasures.

Flowing alongside the homelands of the Cocopah Indian Tribe, Colorado River Indian Tribes (Mohave, Chemehuevi, Hopi and Navajo), Fort Mojave Indian Tribe, and Quechan Indian Tribe, the Colorado River has connected Native communities to the land and water for countless generations. Today, it continues to offer unforgettable experiences - from boating, fishing, kayaking, and swimming to hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing.

The Arizona Benefits Fund, made possible by Tribal Gaming in Arizona, supports tourism and outdoor recreation, ensuring these incredible destinations can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

As you celebrate the Fourth of July weekend, we encourage everyone to get outside, explore Arizona's remarkable landscapes, and enjoy them safely and responsibly. Congratulations to the Cocopah Indian Tribe, the City of Somerton, and the Somerton-Cocopah Fire Department on celebrating 25 years of a groundbreaking partnership!

The Cocopah Indian Tribe made history as the first Tribal Nation in the country to enter into a fire services agreement with a municipal fire department, setting a national example of collaboration, innovation, and public safety.

AIGA proudly celebrates this remarkable milestone and everyone who has helped make this partnership a lasting success. Here’s to the next 25 years! 🚒👏

🌿 June is National Great Outdoors Month! 🌿

The Yuma East Wetlands along the Colorado River is one of Arizona’s great conservation success stories. Through partnerships that include the Fort Yuma Quechan Tribe, hundreds of acres of native wetlands and wildlife habitat have been restored, helping preserve the cultural and environmental connection between the Quechan people and the river they have called home for generations.

As we celebrate National Great Outdoors Month, AIGA is proud to recognize the importance of protecting Arizona’s natural resources and the many ways Tribal Nations continue to lead in environmental stewardship throughout our state.

Through the Arizona Benefits Fund, Tribal Gaming also supports wildlife conservation, habitat restoration, and outdoor recreation projects that enhance Arizona’s natural resources and quality of life for all Arizonans.
